They were successful in getting an order to force the Stryker brigade here to stop training. A lot of Hawaii's income is from the military. Hawaiins are AMERICANS and should support the military.

Okay, so please explain why Hawaiins hate troops today? I am pretty sure none of them were alive when Hawaii was overthrown.
Who allowed sacred grounds to be designated training areas?? The military doesn't just go out and look for a good spot to train.

Yes locals here hate white people but what is SO funny is that in the 7 months that I have lived here I have met 2 people with a little bit of Hawaiin blood. Everyone else is Filipino, Samoan, Korean etc etc. OH YEAH, don't forget the Japanese who have all but taken over Hawaii. What makes the Japanese feel like they have a right to Hawaii?

As far as seized lands... the government seizes land in all states. Are you saying that the land seized everywhere for interstates should be given back? That's a smart boy.

The military are hated because of events that happened long before they were born? I don't understand that line of thinking although it is quite popular.
The build-up of military making HI a targe is a valid point but there is nothing our troops can do about it.
Don't take your anger out on troops. They are doing their jobs.

I was wondering how many people know that long ago each Hawaiian island was ruled by a different leader. One of these leaders, King Kamehameha, eventually took over all of them.
That was long before the USA was even thought about. Finally, something that the US isn't responsible for!!!!

Mark was referring to the attack on Pearl Harbour. That is a good point, maybe they are a bit paranoid about having a large military presence as it attracted the Japenese in'41'. Or it could be the attitude of people from the lower 48 if "AFwife"s atitude is an example .

It seems to me that You hate Hawaiians and not the other way around.
It's obvious to me that YOU are the problem. Not them. Maybe they just don't like YOU.
BTW - I am a Caucasian and I have no problems with the locals and visa versa, but I can already tell that I don't like YOU.

But... I wasn't accusing you of racism. I was simply saying that you seem to be a very unpleasant person who is likely to be rejected by the local population.
They don't like you... So you don't like them either.
AND - If other people are like me... and don't like you... It's not because of your color or the fact that you are with the military. The population of Hawaii in general votes to support the military with their tax dollars all the time.
Most of my friends are in white & in the military and they love it here. (I don't know what your problem is but it is... Your Problem)

their Islands are ruled by foreign power and
they wish to bring back their Kingdom.

Just going out on a limb here, but maybe it has something to do with that Pearl Harbor thingy or the occupation of their Islands by one armed force or another since Capt. Cook.
It is not anti American to exercise dissent, in fact I believe that's what makes Americans free.

The US overthrew their queen and forced them into colonial status. 50 years later in a rigged referendum the defunct kingdom became part of the US.
The military occupies 25% of the island of oahu. They train on sacred ground and have violated promise after promise to give back seized lands.
Now please explain why native Hawaiians should support the military.

native hawaians hate white people in general, and there are many white people in the military, but they need to get over it because the white population is only going up in 2 states Virginia and Hawaii! my husband being in the Air Force we might live there some day so they better make room!
