My southern Baptist brother serves as a deacon in his community. I have found people he worships and fellowships with to be quite personable.

Hi, Chrissy.
Everyone has a right to develop his/her own religious beliefs, so keep up your study and your search for what is true and good.
I disagree with the Southern Baptist teachings/practice for many reasons.
I believe that the Southern Baptist leadership is too focused on monetary gain, it interprets the Bible in a questionable way in order to pick out what seems to fit doctrine while discarding the rest, and it seems to be political to the point of not being truly religious.
I disagree with their unqualified support for the state of Israel (every government must be assessed according to its actions), the blatant hostility towards Islam and Muslims, and its support for aggression, war, and invasion thus rejecting the teaching: "Blessed are the meek...Blessed are the peacemakers..." (see Matthew, chapter 5, NIV).

I have never met a Southern Baptist, I don't think there are any where I live. But the impression I have of them from the media, the Internet, etc. is that they are sincere believers but very conservative not just theologically but also politically. The word "fundamentalist" comes to mind (which to me has a negative connotation).

I am a Roman Catholic. My experience with Southern Baptist people of faith is positive. They are earnest, kind, energetic, and faithful people, who are not shy in debating and discussing their love of Jesus Christ.
Occasionally, I have run into bigotry towards my belief, but usually when they understand that I love Jesus and know my bible, they are more accepting.
As a Catholic I wish all my Southern Baptist could be Roman Catholic with me! This is not a slam, but a sincere wish for unity for all Christian people.
God bless.

They are a little more Fanatic than Northern. We want a wet county for tax reasons and to keep the revenue in our county. Some of the Southern Baptists(CHURCHES) have gone to the trouble to put crash victims with wreck cars in front of their places of worship. The dry county signs, out number the wet signs, ten to one.

I don't really have an opinion on southern baptists. One southern baptist holds a special place in my heart actually.

I think there are all types in any denomonation. But the Southern Baptists rep is ultra conservative, judgmental and even racist at times. I think any church who believes you have to go there to get into heaven is misled.

Are you saying you aren't normal? I think Southern Baptists are awesome! They truly express themselves in worship. Nothing wrong with that...if you feel the presence of God, why not celebrate it!
I'm non-denomination, and proud to be a Christian.

From what I know, they believe in salvation. This is good. But I believe in the full gospel, (working of the Holy Spirit) such as healing.
