I don't know if there is life anywhere else or not, but let's assume for the sake of argument there is. Imagine an alien of superior intelligence visited our planet and wanted to communicate with us? What should we discuss first? Should we ask the alien if it has accepted jesus as its personal savior? What do you think the alien would think of this?

I've actually thought this very thing myself. They'd think we're all nuts, I've decided.

--edit--

But I guess the real question is would a Christian evangelize if they met a real, life alien? Wouldn't that confuse some of the Christian principles so much that they'd be too baffled to speak/proselytize?

Alien:
"Incredible. Your science has advanced fairly well, but you still believe in ancient superstitions and myths for which there is no evidence? Hmph. We'll come back in another thousand years when you're more mature and intelligent."

:)

Nearly all earthly religious belief is based on humans on THIS earth being "special" -- god's creation, favored, the only people in the universe. An alien showing up would invalidate all of that in a flash, and perhaps humans would then grow out of their ancient superstitions. It's already happened in stages...first religion taught our earth was the center of the universe, the only thing that mattered....then we found out we orbit the sun, not the other way around. Then religion taught that we were formed in the image of god, a unique creation...then we found out we're just animals, evolved like all other life on this planet from primoridal life forms. Many religions still haven't accepted either of those facts, I'd love to see how they'd deal with an alien who showed up! :)

You approach all unknown possibly-dangerous life forms with extreme caution and try not the provoke them too much. I can't imagine the alien would feel comfortable with the basic premises of Christianity...we all are sinners, the punishment for sin is death, as an act of love this God created an offspring to be tortured and killed by humans, Christians pray to this murdered child so God will not torture them for eternity... No, can't imagine the alien is going to be comfortable with that philosophy. It's pretty damn bloody.

Aliens would certainly be amazed at such a diversity we show on earth. But I guess they will realize things that we humans do not understand.
Every religion has tried to promote the same principles for its adherents. It has given us a structure of life, a peace for ourselves, a sense of belongingness and most importantly it has helped us bond together.
If aliens would wish to take something from earth, that is definitely going to be our values and our faith. Our beautiful festivals, the emotions, and all that which help us keep going even in the face of traumas. Be it 9/11 or London Blast or Tsunami disaster.

Ha yeah IF you get to even communicate with the alien before the pope destroys it because of his fear of the alien's intellectual superiority. right...
But if you did get to talk to an alien about Jesus. he'd just think you're silly little chickens hiding behind a figure that you've never seen before instead of getting out there and fighting your own battles and just praying to god that you don't get your a**es whooped. in my humble opinion.

well, more'n likely God would've given them a way to know about Christ, as well. If God made 'alien' life elsewhere in the universe I would bet that they are human, as well, and have the same failings as us. in the Bible it talks about the opportunity to accept Christ is there for ALL men... but, then again, the idea of aliens was invented by men to find another reason why we are here (ex. aliens brought us here) so to suppose that there are other beings..is simply speculation and we won't find out until God reveals it to us.

Have you ever seen that guy that starts to giggle, then sputter, develope into a hearty laugh, transform into atrocious bellowing haws, and rolling on the floor ucontrollably gripping at his guts trying desperately to control it, and slowly simpering down to the occasional guffaw and into a teary eyed grin, then with a slightly whimsical side glance says," I'm sorry, what was that you said?"

If an intelligent alien visited our planet - the government and the military would have first dibs.... and I seriously doubt they would even mention religious beliefs... they would want to know why he's here?for peace or hostile? and would definitely want to know about his world/technology etc.

I think the alien will be inwardly smiling and showing sad-but-caring eyes, while slowly hiding the wings in folds of alien skin on his back, as he says that he has great gifts to give us and make the world one......
