is this? Sensible answers only please. I was just reading an article on Yahoo news about the rise in TB in Britain amongst these groups of people but it was put down to people migrating to the UK from poor areas of Asia. I don't really buy this as other countries are equally as poor with TB not being so widespread there.

Dear friend,

i am an Indian. i love my country. but it's true that India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, sri lanka like some developing countries, the most of the peoples are not educated and they are not living in a clean surrounding. most of the peoples are taking pan and splitting it in the open place. even when they are travelling, they are splitting from the vehicle. hope peoples will change and prevent most of the disease.

thank you.

Spread of any disease depends upon host susceptibility and virulence of the organism. In these countries, there is poverty, ignorance and overcrowding. People have to work for long hours without adequate rest and nutrition. Several people live together in one or few rooms Many children are unvaccinated. People are not aware of how the disease spreads. They often do not visit a proper health facility and are diagnosed late. When on treatment, they stop when they feel better or take irregular treatment, leading to multidrug resistant tuberculosis.

Well whether you buy it or not poor diet, poor housing and deprivation caused TB to be rife in this country well into the first half of the twentieth century.

As to why other third world countries do not suffer to the same extent I do not know. Perhaps it's a disease to which descendents of the Aryan race are prone.

Inoculation levels are far lower there than here. And also, if TB is caught, you need to keep taking antibiotics for 6 months. Many stop taking it when the symptoms have apparently passed, breeding antibiotic proof strains of the virus.

i am not in any way knowledgeable in medical facts but i would assume that the people coming from other countries do not have the same luxuries we have in this country as in free inoculations etc so please remember this when OUR GOVERNMENT try to make us go for private health care and stop moaning when they put up our national service donations remember EVERYTHING GOES UP IN PRICE its the hangers on that we should worry about SO IF YOU KNOW ANY MALINGERS REPORT THEM THEY DON'T DESERVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY
