sorry I'm not helpful but I'm watching this q. because I get them in the arch of my foot when I'm sleeping...I hear you. I stretch my feet back and forth and rub it to get the blood flowing again but it's a pain in the a$$ because you are dead to the world and then you get woken up with this it really sux

Cramps in the legs and feet are a sign of a lack of potassium. Buy potassium tablets (they are natural) and start eating bananas and other foods high in potassium. That should take care of the cramping.
