I think it should be the man then the woman. I AM NOT SEXIST so dont think that i am. The man is the (should be) the head of the house. Just mentally on both parts, the man is more equipped to be the provider and we are hardwired that way. If you do put your name first and he is ok with that, subconsiously he is going to think lower for himself because he comes "second" in the house. hopefully this helps.
but personally, i dont agree with the whole name combining thing, i think you should keep only the mans last name. So what happens with your kids. They are...for instance...born Eric A. Perez-Brown. Then they get married then they do the same thing....will it be Eric A. Perez-Brown-Cook? I dont know i just dont think this is the way things should be. sorry

My mother kept her last name when she and my dad got married and my cousin did the same. In both instances the women's last name came first.
Jane Deer & John Doe get married. They could be Jane Deer Doe & John Deer Doe unless they choose to keep only there maiden names then it woundn't change, it would still be Jane Deer & John Doe but the kids would be Joanne Deer - Doe & Johnny Deer - Doe
You could also ask about it when you go get your marriage cert.

I kept the name on my birth certificate.
I don't understand why, in this day and age, anyone should give up on being themselves to become an extension of another being!
Yup.... I think I made the right choice, I didn't need to change my SS card name, bank accounts, drivers licenses, credit cards etc etc etc
Good luck

You would write you name with your maiden name, a hyphen and then your last name eg. Jane Doe-Smith
Doe-Maiden name
Smith-Married name

I've seen it done both ways, I think traditionally it's Your Name-His Name, but sometimes it sounds better the other way around.

You hyphenate your maiden name-his surname. Think really hard before you do this, keeping kids in mind if you are going to have them.

Yours- his is the most common way. Of coarse if it's hard to say you could consider it the other way around.
Have a great day!!!
