I'd have to say either atheists, Muslims, or gays. What do you think?

A recent study showed beyond a shadow of a doubt, atheists are the most persecuted and mistrusted people in the US.

For those that think I'm making this up... see the link below. But thanks for the thumbs down. Just because you don't like it, doesn't make it any less true. :)

I don't believe for a second that atheiests are being persecuted in the US. Their theories are prevailing Modern Science today. Gays are starting to get more of the freedom they have always wanted. I don't think there was an earlier time where they had equal opportunity has anyone else. Muslims on the other had, are being told what to do and how much they can follow their religion. Just because a handful of so-called Muslims are practicing it the WRONG way, doesn't mean they are ALL like that. How come the news never covers the stories of the over 1 billion other Muslims that are residing here on Earth.

sounds like maximum persecution of Christians is both from its cousins or from sectarian communities interior of itself. Burning down church homes, pushing away Mormons and such have a tendency to be from more effective foremost Protestant communities, which also make a contribution to the persecution of Catholics. So after all, the persecution is not in any respect any different than Jews being persecuted by technique of Christians and Muslims and different jews

It's a matter of opinion...

1) Is a site that says Muslums

2) Is a site that says Chriatians

3) Is a site that says Smokers

4) Is a site that says Gays are the most hated group aside from Jews.

In my personal opinion I think the most hated people is anyone who has liberal thoughts. People who are comfortable with no change or scared of change is a majority especially in America. If Bush wasn't so swamped with nasty letters about him not letting gays marry, he probably would've made abortion illegal again by now. But again, it's all just a matter of opinion...

What is your definition of persecuted?

According to wikipedia:

"Persecution is persistent mistreatment of an individual or group by another group. The most common forms are religious persecution, ethnic persecution, and political persecution, though there is naturally some overlap between these terms."

"The most common scenario is a majority group persecuting a minority group, since the reverse is usually impractical, although Apartheid in South Africa is considered an exception. Majority groups, however, can inspire resentment where they are locally a minority and find themselves persecuted; persons of an ethnic majority who venture within a large minority neighborhood may experience or perceive a hostility towards them. See reverse discrimination."

I would say the American ***** is the most persecuted.

homosexuals...definately.

I'm an atheist, so I can say that while I do get some evil comments occasionally, I don't get looks out in public because of who I am.

However, my gay friends and family have to deal with hateful comments, looks, etc. everyday they are out with their loved one. People act like they have a disease, and it's nauseating to me that people still regard other people this way. It's the 21st century!!!

Not to mention, they are getting most of the looks FROM Christians, so I really don't think they are the most persecuted. That's a bunch of B.S.
