i would say a older one like 10-15 cuz they kno more bout what they are doin.. and get a child safe horse make sure that its sound poof and dead broke.. that is the best type of horse 4 someone that is just starting out..make sure u get someone else that knows horses 2 go w/ u guys when u go and look at them.. so u dont get a bad one.. plus if i were u i would only get one w/ papers cuz u dont kno wat u could get.. good luck need 2 kno anything else ask me.... thnx good luck

Really you can not go by breed when choosing a horse. You never know what breed of horse might be right cause each one is different. But I love morgans (I own one), so I'd recommend morgans to anyone. They are calm, but have get up and go when you need it. They come in any color (alot of people think they only come in bay and chestnut), and are between 14-16hh. They are good for just about every dicipline.

P.S. I alos love my little quarter pony, but that breed is a bit to small for teens/adults.

You need to find a quarter horse or something of the type they are calm and willing, making them a great first horse. Horses are really at their best age at areound 8 to 9.

4-5 year old gelding quarter horses are great..calm, good mannered. i had several growing up and 4-5 is a good age because they are still young and will be around for awhile

I would say an 'all-rounder' or a 'family' horse. Depends on how confident she is, but I would try to avoid anything with Arab in it.
