Of all the illegal recreational drugs in America, marijuana is probably the most tame. I honestly think that it shouldn't be illegal.
Unlike alcohol, people can not overdose on pot (drink too much alcohol and you'll die).
Unlike alcohol, pot does not make people violent (Have you ever heard of a bar fight? Ever heard of a pothead fight?).
Among car accidents, a driver influenced by alcohol is more likely to
cause a fatality than a driver influenced by marijuana. (It is still not safe to drive while under the influence of marijuana, just more safe than alcohol)
I don't know how the "moral majority" can rationalize keeping alcohol legal, but marijuana illegal.
Most pot is more dangerous to your lungs, throat and mouth than a typical cigarette though.
I don't drink smoke or do pot. All of these substances are detrimental to your and my health. Until pot is legal, I don't recommend anyone taking the risk of going to prison just to "get high." Not worth it.

It is ok to take drugs, you do so every day, every time you have a headache.
What you seem to be asking is about so called Illegal drugs. This is a complex issue largely because the war on drugs is a total farce and doesn't reflect the differing health or harmfull affects of drugs, The only drug that was outlawed because of its harmfull effects (even then it was done because of racism) was cocaine.
The rest because the government needed a political scapegoat, and drugs became it. However there are LEGAL substances like tobacco and alcohol that are much more deadly than many illegal drugs. Also white out and aerosol cans can be inhaled to get high and this is legal, but very dangerous as it cuts off oxygen to your brain.
There are many things that are bs about any position defending any law that makes drugs illegal. Among them are: It is a personal choice to take them. Unlike tobacco, peope do know the effects of drugs and are not deluded into thinking crack is any less bad than it is like tobacco companies have done with cigarettes.
One should be able to take or do whatever they want to thier body because it is your body.
It is not realistic to think that you can win the war on drugs with the current methods, prohibition is a prime example of the failure to regulate. There just aren't as many people who take drugs as there were people who would have wanted to drink alcohol in the 30's.
If it is regulated, not only would the government be able to get legit tax revenue from it, but they could make sure it is safer, and that there were more appropriate help centers for addicts as there isn't the negative stigma. Regulation will also strike a huge blow against the criminal element and would seriously cut into the profits of drug lords. It would cut out "street dealers", I doubt entirely, there might still be room for a "black market" but it would be much more limited than the way drugs are now.
The "lie" about marijuana bieng a "gateway" drug is just that a "lie". The claim that they try this first, willfully ignores the FACT that they also would have tried LEGAL drugs like alcohol or tobacco or SOFT DRINKS first. Yes soft-drinks too are a drug and more harmfull than marijuana but for different reasons. They are addicting, and they greatly increase your risk of diabetes (appx by 80% studies show). so what really came first? the "legal" substance that they used that opened the door to cocaine or heroin or sniffing roseanne bhar's crotch or another drug on the "path" to the more dangerous ones.
Marijuana, is also not addictive, habit forming yes, but so is sex. smoking it is not good health wise because you are inhaling smoke (regardless of the kind) into your lungs. other than that there is nothing dangerous about it (so Ideally if you ate it to get high there wouldn't be a problem).
However even though the fallacies usually used to defend laws that make certain drugs illegal, and leaves others which are just as bad or more harmfull to you legal. The fact is that they are still ILLEGAL, and it is the LAW. As stupid as it may be that law, it is the law and until that is changed I would say NO you should not take marijuana because it is illegal, and no other reason. There are even issues with medical marijuana (conflicting laws between federal and state, the fbi may arrest you or the clinic, but not the state).

ROFLMMAO, why is it people say Marijuana is the gateway drug.....stand back and think again, Cigarettes are the gateway drug (even if it's Not considered a drug) Smoking Cigarettes lead to people doing other thing, smoking weed, drinking, cocaine, I would Much rather be around someone who smokes pot then some Belligerent drunk that thinks they are 10 foot tall and bullet proof, The only reason Marijuana is Illegal is the government can't find a way to collect taxes on it, it has been proven in medical reports that Marijuana is Not addictive, Non Impairing to most people Unlike alcohol and harder drugs

Marijuana isn't a drug but a substance. I am a logical person I do things based on that not on the Laws. Most of the time me and the Law agree so no worries. Even though I don't do drugs or abuse substances like marijuana, is because I don't care to. Instead look at the merits of not using it and evaluate for yourself what doesn't matter to you. The whole "don't do something because its bad" should always be followed by "why is it bad".

it is okay. Marijuana should not be illegal it is less addicting the cigs. or alcohol. You can't die from weed as you could from alcohol. It's just a good time. Its not a gateway drug i have smoked weed for 5 years and never did or wanted to do another drug. I stopped now because i get drug tested for work but i went though collage and got a very good job all smoking pot. In my opinion do it up you wont be disappointed.

I think that marijuana is illegal so it is wrong. I had a friend in high school that was an awesome baseball player, he had a scholarship for college. He went to a party and smoked a joint that someone gave him, he did not know it was laced with angel dust. It basically fried his brain, he now has the brain of a 4 year old. Be carefull.

Pot is pretty harmless compared to a lot of other drugs including alcohol. Unfortunately you have to be careful to avoid getting caught! But hopefully as more people get educated we'll make progress toward decriminalizing it. "Medical Marijuana" laws are a step in the right direction.
It's just a plant for crying out loud!

It depends on the person.
I know two guys that are so down on their luck, they smoke like a quarter a day. They work, but with that habit, they BARELY scrape by, often not, and we all have to bail em out. We have even tried giving them jobs or setting them up to do some business. Nothing. Not the slightest motivated to do anything. I think they shouldn't smoke cuz it's taking away their motivation and affecting them too much.
I know one other guy. He has a HUGE store. Three cars. Bank rolls about the same as me. He's REALLY intense personality-wise, and if it weren't for some pot, I think he'd blow the roof and start screaming and kicking people. Pot is good for him.
Both sides. Personally, I don't touch the stuff. Makes you stupid and laugh at sh!t that's not funny, and makes you eat a lot.

I say it their prerogative. People think differently. I for example think marijuana is a very helpful drug. It makes people feel better when they are sick, nauseous, depressed, have cancer and it helps reduce stress and helps you relax. Moderation is key of course. All the other drugs are man made out of poisonous things that slowly kill your body and mind. Marijuana comes from the earth, nothing is added to it, no chemicals.

I dont view marijuana as a drug because its 100% natural and isnt chemicaly altered. And on top of that you dont die from marijuana use, you cant overdose on THC(the thing that actually makes you high). The main reason its not legal is the gov't cant control its production well enough to tax it because it can grow wild.
