Want to make centerpieces that are original but easy for about 20 tabletops at my job. The centerpieces need to be fall theme but can last through Christmas. The centerpieces must have no glass or breakable products in them because it is for a nursing home facilty and the patients can not injury themselves with them by accident.

I trained Health Care Activity workers for 8 years back in Canada in Horticultural Therapy. One of our favourite activites was a Grass Head. Can be any season you want and fun for the residents - let them join in and make one for their rooms!
Ingred:
one half a panty hose leg per head
hand full indoor potting mix
Tbsp of grass seed
plastic saucer / bowl what ever
wool, ribbon various decorations.

Method:
With each 1/2 leg tie off one end and fill with potting mix.
Open leg and spread seed there ever you want the "hair" to grow
tie a know or tie off
Now dampen and squish and form into a face - remember where the "hair" will grow. Use buttons for eyes - sew them on - make a nose, ears and so on.
When done, water well and put in a bright location.
Residents have fun cutting the "hair" when it grows.
Oh, don't forget to name them!!!!
