I'd recommend cream walls and carpet, but use accents for the cushions, curtains and throws. You could look at a patterned wallpaper for more warmth, but given the size of the room, this may be a little overwhelming.

Romo fabrics have some fantastic stripes and patterns in burnt oranges, browns and creams, and some fab reds and browns:

Try Homebase for chenille throws for the sofas to add that extra bit of colour and warmth.

For table lamps, I'd recommend John Lewis. The have a good variety at a reasonable price.

i would recommend neutral colours as room is rather small . as you have a brown settee i would look to do the woodwork a chocolate brown to match the furniture and include the dado rail in that paint the top have a light colour say hessian include ceiling and below a slight darker colour .if you opt for a Hessian carpet go for a mixed fibre one with darker flecks in it to match paint colours (it also wears well and doesn't show up dirt easy . you could be brave and paint one wall a plum /Burgundy colour and the rest a lighter colour as this gives you a feature wall and goes well with creams on woodwork and your brown furniture . one a dark wall put a large mirror on wall this will give yo a feeling of space and light as well . tip to get colours right cut up the colour book and put over each other in the room you are to paint in the sunlight you get a idea of what you want before you spend a fortune on sample pots

I depends what style...
******LIGHT******* how about a creme carpet and if you want somthing pratical aswell get a brown rug, of course white is a really nice carpet colour... if your a clean person. For walls have magnolia NOT white!!! They get so dirty with fingerprints! If you think that would look boring then have a feture wall, orange, red brown ect.

#####DARK###### there is one obvious dark colour you could use for carpet brown, but don't have a pattern and a light brown would not look good chocolate or nothing. There is always laminate which could look good. As for the walls if they are dark then it will look really terrible have light walls and a brown wallpaper feature wall.

£££££FINISHINGS££££ ok there are some really good things in NEXT and MATALAN but they are quite expensive, you need some side-tables, varses, lamps, coasters ect. IKEA can be a good place to get all of these but if push comes to shove go on eBay they always have what you want!!!

I have similar furniture to you. Last year I painted the walls magnolia and did a feature wall in pale blue. I got pale blue (duck-egg blue) cushions for the sofas and vases/candles the same colour. Got curtains with cream, brown and pale blue in the pattern. I have a wooden floor but also have a large hessian coloured mat. The pale colours of the cream and blue will lighten the room as you have dark furniture. I think it looks nice and clean too. Next time I redecorate, I think a sage green colour or a dusky pink would be nice in place of the blue.

Hope it turns out well for you whatever you do.

You should definitely go for a light colour, either cream or pastel shades as you have the darkness in your furniture.By getting a lighter shade carpet you will bring out the colours in the sofa, cabinets and dado rail. Also avoid any metal fittings and stick to wood for example curtain fittings so that there's no clashing.

Has to be some sort of beige or cream(depends how dark your seaters are) Exept you like contrast, then go for white (pain if a carpet is white) stick to lighter colours anyway otherwise the room will be too dark

Not all black....... to dark to depressing. Hard to live with after awhile too! Why not white walls with a black comforter and black assesories. or ..... start the murals at the top of the wall where the wall and ceiling meet at the bottom of the murals paint the wall a coordinating color to the floor. (I'm trying to figure out whether you have a tent shaped wall or a barn shaped wall. this idea is more for the barn shaped walls and ceiling.) If you had two matching murals that meet in the point of the ceiling and go down the opposite walls that might be kind of neat.... say it the mural was of an outdoor scene such as a forest or beach or something, then paint a water scene at the bottom of the mural on the walls......... It could be very relaxing!

I think white walls and ceilings and red carpet. You obviously like to feel as if the room is warm and inviting, cream would be too light and cold a colour and would clash with the dark wood. If you don't like the thought of white walls you could warm them up a little with a hint of red. Add red cushions to your settee and red curtains to complete the look.

I noticed that alot of the answers you got say to use Cream... I think that cream will make it to dark & Monocromed. I would use white with agua accents or if you like the cream you can still use the aqua for pillows and vases. Then get a curtain with a light pattern that includes the accent color.

Cream carpet, and get some gold accessories to set off the other colours.
