NO! That is soo unnatural....please don't do that to your Persian! They have sensitive skin and to suddenly expose that skin is just not right! It is also uncomfortable for them when it comes to their own personal grooming habits. I have seen Persians' who have developed bad skin irritations from their owners shaving them.

My aunt has her cat groomed that way. He is a white persian, with very light grey hairs in a few places. she has his body and legs shaved, but leaves the tail and neck/face alone.

Many people say that it's inhumane, but it really isn't. The cats are not shaved bald - it's just trimmed very very very close to the skin. This is a LOT more humane than trying to brush them every day when their fur gets matted or knotted from activity. You are not hurting your cat by doing this - just make sure to go to a trusted groomer, and know that your cat is in good hands.

I'm sure some people do it. I never have, as I think it looks a little goofy. God, or evolution, or selective breeding, or whoever, gave cats lots of fur. Who am I to fly in the face of tradition and shave it off?

My mom got her pomerainian a lion cut and his hair never grew back. I know you question was about cats, but I just had to answer since it was about lion cuts.

Sister Margaret likes her pork loin cuts the best when they are marinated in BBQ sauce.
