I'm going in December for a one-day shopping blast, can't wait. When I went a couple of years ago, I hit all the "big" stores like Macys' & such, but found that most of the stuff they had I could get at home. It didnt' make sense to me to buy stuff there! Look around, check out some of the smaller stores, they'll probably have some cool stuff you don't see everywhere. Everybody says hit Chinatown, I may do that this time. Enjoy your trip & don't forget to take in the sights too!!

I go to Macy's at Herald Square. There's a lot of shopping around there. They're the Gap, Banana Republic, H & M, American Eagle, Victoria's Secret, Lord and Taylors etc etc. Also if you want knockoffs go to Chinatown. Dont' take the A to Canal Street. That goes to the Holland Tunnel. Rather take the 4, R, W, N to Canal. Get a map at the subway before you swipe in the metrocard. Map is free.

I don't know what's CHEAPEST, but I'll tell you this:

STAY OUT OF ANY STORE THAT HAS A YELLOW AND RED SIGN. You will know what stores I mean when you get there. I mean camera stores, souvenier shops etc. I've found that most of these are rip-offs and will do anything to part you from your money. There are enough "Name-Brand" stores from which you can select your souveniers. I just HATE seeing good people getting ripped off by these scoundrels.

Screw the shops. Head over to Houston St and get a meal or 10 at Katz's Deli. The memory of the food will outlast any clothing you buy.
