The problems surrounding Joesph Smith's character and occult activities is partly why I left the Mormon church years ago. The bottom line is that JS made up his supposed godly visions, the Book of Mormon, and such, to make money and set himself up as some kind of prophet and religious leader that could live off of the work and sweat of others just like today's big religious leaders. It was as common a practice in his time as it is today. He was a conman, pure and simple - so, as long as he could fool people he did what he pleased like marry several women including some that were married to other men. All he had to do was say God told him to do it and problem solved - well, with the most gulible.
I think the thing to remember is that founding a church, any church, is a time-consuming business; so, in the mean time he continued his treasure-hunting activities to try and make a living and get rich quick. He even tired to sell the publishing rights to his Book of Mormon to raise money to live on. It makes perfect sense that since he'd spent years conning farmers about his gold-finding abilities that he would lie about finding gold plates that he then claimed he used to write the Book fo Mormon. When investigated the founding of the Mormon Church has many many problems.

I have never understood why people believe what Joseph Smith said and why people would follow him. Based on his life and how God told him things, it's so hard to imagine that some people really think he was a prophet sent by God. He clearly was a liar, an attention-getter, or even insane. Another false prophet that Jesus warned us about.
I would have thought that a few people would follow him but after one or two generations, that religious sect would have died out. I guess it proves that some people will believe anything.

I may not be able to answer all of your questions but there's one i can SPECULATE on. When Adam transgressed he had blood. I think the blood only represents death, and the reason Jesus had blood is because he COULD die not because he was a sinner, Remember god said if you eat the fruit you will die. Well, they ate the fruit and the blood represented that they were mortals. Of course blood is a representation of sin and it's also a representation of the atonement. A single symbol can represent many aspects.

Joseph smith was NOT visited by G-D as was Abraham and all other men of renown in traditional religious history. The Book of Mormon was given to,or more properly stated, was dictated to as he wrote it when he was visited upon by the angel Maroni.Mr. Smith was also a convicted con-man.The 3 year time period you may be referring to might have been devoted to polishing up his delivery.

Interestingly not a very good question, considering you used works that have a biased opinion. If you want to know why don't you find an actual Mormon and ask them.

Stating that Joseph Smith is a false prophet keeps your question from being "serious."
