writings? Some of it is clear, but some is not so clear and so you have to go and research, ask questions, etc. So, why are people so stuck on the King James version of the bible when it's been updated into our language? KJV is very good but honestly sometimes, I just can't understand so I carry my trusty NIV! Any agreements out there?

I understand your point, but why do people still study the original Shakespeare not a watered down, modern version of it? Obviously the command of the language he had, and the style he used are recognized to be something everyone in all different time periods can still learn from. I would say it's the same with the KJV. If there are hard parts in it to understand, then maybe your pastor or teacher should take them apart, and help you understand them. hope this helps:) God bless

I grew up with Shakespeare's plays and sonnets, but that's not to say that I cannot still glean new meaning from the words.

I like the KJV, but it's not the only translation and certainly not the best for modern readers who really wish to understand what they're reading. The NIV is very good.

i am pretty sick of shakespeare..we always have to read it and no, i dont understand it. i already know what is going to happen b/c of the numerous updated versions so its a waste of time. no one speaks like that anymore, and its annoying to see a school play that is shakespear b/c none of the kids know what they are saying. its so lame and more attention should be given to contempary writers

Most of it, yes. But I have a BFA in Acting and I'm guessing I'm not your target audience.
