First of all, I claim to be no expert. But, the belief comes from the fact that both Jesus and Lucifer were the spirit children of God. Biblically, there aren't many locations that you could derive this from, but they often speak of the War in Heaven, which arose because both Jesus and Lucifer offered plans to bring about the salvation of all the spirit children of God. Satan's plan was turned down and he rebelled, taking a portion of the children with him and engaged a war. In Revelations 12:7 it referrences this war and the fact that Lucifer was then cast out of heave and to earth (where they were left to deceive man). See also Isaiah 14:12-20 which discusses Lucifer's fall and the reason his plan was turned down (i.e., he wanted to ascend to the throne of God). More referrences are found in scripture they use, but which are not used by other Christians. In their Pearl of Great Price, the Book of Moses, Chapter 4, verses 1-4 it talks a little more of the fact that both were sons of God. Likewise, because they believe God continues to call or appoint prophets to teach his children on the earth, as he did in previous times, they have modern teachings/prophesies concerning the subject.

Bottom line: they believe we are all spirit children of God, including Jesus and Lucifer (who was cast out of heaven for wanting to usurp God - per Revelations and Isaiah).

no where in any Scripture does it ever states a thing, the notion that Jesus was a angel comes from a mis-interpretation of the letters of Paul stating Jesus as a angel or god-man.If we read the scriptures in their content we will find that Jesus was stating that his true self his real self always existed with the father.Just as our true selves has. unfortunately when we get effected by our surroundings , fear, pride, insecurities, and the list goes it effects our true selves. according to scripture Jesus was the first and only being to keep pure to his pure self .Even Moses need the realization of the burning bush to come to GOD.that why john inspired by the spirit state that he was the Word, and the Word was god and The Word became flesh.
I hope this was helpful. peace

I belong to the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints (Mormon)
Satan leads men to lie and deceive
and this we see also and bear record ,that an angel of God who was in authority in the presence of God,who rebelled against the only begotten son whom the father loved and who was in the bosom of the father, was trust down from the presence of God and the son.
And was called perdition for the heavens wept over him-he was Lucifer, a son of the morning.
And we beheld and lo,he is fallen! is fallen, even a son of the morning!
And while we were yet in the spirit, the lord commanded us that we should write the vision: for we beheld Satan, that old serpent, even the devil, who rebelled against God and sought to take the kingdom of our God and his Christ ....Doctrine and covenants section 76, 25- 28

all human beings -male and female -are created in the image of God Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents and as such, each has a divine nature and destiny
Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal and eternal identity and purpose.

Jesus and Satan are spirit brothers and we were all born as siblings in heaven to them both, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 163; Gospel Through the Ages, p. 15.)

This is all I could find.

"The appointment of Jesus to be the Savior of the world was contested by one of the other sons of God. He was called Lucifer, son of the morning. Haughty, ambitious, and covetous of power and glory, this spirit-brother of Jesus desperately tried to become the Savior of mankind." (Milton R. Hunter, Gospel Through the Ages, pg.15)

Moses 4 infers it.
As does Abraham 3: 27-28.

God created all things therefore it stands to reason that He created Jesus and Satan, as well as all the rest of us. We're all Children of God, and so was Satan - at one time, then he chose a different path.

God did no longer create devil; devil replaced into an angel and the previous testomony on no account says the place angels got here from; the main uncomplicated thought is they seem to be a seperate race and existed with God with the initiating-No you do no longer die and develop into an angel. lots of the angels have been disillusioned while God created guy and felt he replaced into enjoying favorites and that they rebelled; they lost the conflict and have been exiled to hell.

I'm not a mormon, but the angel who eventually allowed his selfish ambition to become like God and have the worship that would rightfully be directed TO God directed to him instead was indeed a fellow spirit creature of God's so therefore started out as Jeus' brother.
