Why did Joseph Smith after receiving s message from God not do as God asked, but instead he went back to looking for treasures with his father? Dr. D. Michael Quinn notes this fact in a book called Early Mornmonism and the Magic World View. That Dr. Quinn was a former Mormon Historian. Even his own mother wrote that he did these things and she stated that her son said he possessed powers in helping him in these searches.
So for three years after Joseph Smith got the heavenly vision he kept up his treasure seeking with peep stones. He ignored God for 3 years. Don't sound much like a prophet to me. I state all this to see what you mormons say as to what is fact. I am not here to run you down, but run down a man who claims to be a prophet. of God.

Trying to run down Joseph Smith is infact running down the church...even though you might not think so. A person could never be a faithful member without having a testimony of what Joseph did...make sense?
Anyways, you might want to actually read his history, then you would know what was going on during those years, rather than just listening to what others say, read what he wrote.

He was 14 when he saw God the Father and Jesus Christ. He was instructed to do everything, wait for more instruction, do things at certain times. At NO time was he EVER ignoring the Lord. From the time the angel Moroni visited him, it was 4 years until he was able to actually get the plates. He met Moroni at a certain place each year because that is what he was instructed to do. The reason people call it "treasure hunting" is probably because of the use of the word "gold" when describing the plates. Although they were not actual gold, they had the appearance of gold.
Anyways, just thought you might want to know the real account not just something someone wrote about him. Would you ask Nazi's about Jews? I hope not.

Do you always want someone to believe what other say about you?

Or do you want someyone to know you directly.

If you want to know, for the sake of fairness, read the Book of Mormon too, then ask God if its true. Only God can tell you.
