Lots of stereotyping in the answers so far. Being Canadian, and a foodie, I have to say that we are famous for all kinds of food. Our country is a very diverse mix of cultures, so we have adopted these, with some twists, as our own. The West and East coasts have wonderful seafood and the Prairies produce wonderful ethnic European dishes.

Canadian Back Bacon, maple syrup, Beaver Tails (a sweet treat that is waffle like), and our booze also which includes Canadian Club and any beer that is manufactured here (which isn't actually a food but is recognized by our next door neighbours as being superior to theirs).

When I think of Canadian recipes, I think of savory pies. This pie is traditionally made at Christmas time but is good any time of the year.

Canadian Pork Pie

1 pie 1½ hours 20 min prep

2 (9 inch) unbaked pie shells
2 lbs ground lean pork
1 lb lean ground beef
1 1/2 cups mashed potatoes
salt
ground black pepper
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 egg white

Brown ground beef and ground pork over medium heat until thoroughly cooked. Drain off grease.

Mix together cooked meat, potatoes, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
Line a 9 inch pie dish with pastry. Spoon pork mixture into pie crust, and top with second pie crust. Brush top crust with egg white. Shield crust edges with aluminum foil to prevent burning.
Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 45 minutes. Remove foil for final 15 minutes of baking to brown edges.

Neither Canadians nor the British have any idea of what good food is.
In fact it was a visit to the UK that informed me as to where the absence of good food originated. ;-)

Beer, it is so good, it is food. Warning - Molson Co. is now owned by the right-wing death squad supporting Coors Co. (Search "Adolf Coors/Death Squads")
