No, his brother, Joe Niekro died earlier this week. Joe was a also a big-league pitcher, but not quite as famous as his brother. Joe's son, Lance, plays for the Giants.

No, Joe did. I'll alwys remember his contributin to baseball lore with the emery board toss (he'd been scuffing balls and when the umpire came out to check his equipment, Joe tried to toss it away. Classic baseball humor, especially the umpire's face as he watched the emery board fly from Joe's hand ). Thanks Joe, RIP.
