Oct 25 = Dec 31

Think about it...

(I'll post an explanation in a few hours (as an added detail) if someone hasn't already posted it)

Have fun :-P

Alright - Barbi got it. As for switching the dates with the months - it's all in the delivery.
Octal 25 = (2*8) + 5 = Decimal 31
Now you can confuse folks in your office. See how long it takes the IT folks to get it!
(It'd be most interesting to compare programmers to IT support in how snappy someone gets it)

doh! It is supposed to be
Oct 31 (3*8) + 1 = Dec 25
That's what you get for copying! (And for trusting my coworker to write it down correctly!)

I dont follow. Who gets them confused? ...who would think halloween to be on the 25th and christmas on the 31st?

Maybe I am just lost....

I looked it up and you typed it wrong...

Its supposed to be because Oct 31 = Dec 25

no offense, but only a true nerd could get this...and no, i am not one. I totally searched for this answer....Dec (Decimal) means using base 10.
Oct (Octal) means using base 8 where numbers are counted like 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,20,.......76,77,100.
To convert from 31 in Octal to Decimal, you multiply the 1 by 8º i.e. 1 and you multiply the 3 by 8¹ and add them up giving you 25.
