A clash between the current IBF middleweight champion "King" Arthur Abraham and former world champion and one of the greatest middleweight boxers ever "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler. Given the style of both fighters and their awesome knock out power and attacking ability, I think that this would have really been the clash of all chlashes, definitely the one to remember.
Who do you think would take it?

Serious answers please. No trolling and no disrespecting.

Brent
I'm fully aware that Abraham's experience is not yet anywhere near Hagler's and that Marvin should definitely be called a favorite here. However before you start talking about one sided beatings and brutal knock outs, perhaps you should watch some of Arthur's fights, specially the last one against Miranda, and see what this man is made of and then think about your answer once again.

Brent,
one more thing - you see what you did with this "sir" nonsense? Do you see what's happening now?! Damn it!

Well this went off pretty much as I expected. I asked a legitimate question and basically got flamed for no good reason. Arthur Abraham is a tremendous boxer, a man with devastating knock out power and such truly incredible heart, courage and determination. He is a well deserving world champion and you people really need to show some more respect. I also think that Marvin Hagler at his prime would have won this match but he would have had a war on his hands. To say that Arthur has no business being in the ring with him is just plain rude.

I would have liked to see that one. I have always been a huge fan of boxing and Marvin Hagler was my favorite. Geeze, I guess I would have to go with the man Marvin to win that fight. I even named my cat after Marvin. lol

Thanks for the question sir!

I rank Marvin Hagler as the 2nd greatest middleweight of all time. He fought the very best competition and was a fearless warrior with great boxing ability, hand speed, determination, power, and a tremendous will to win. Abraham has not fought anywhere near the level of competition that Hagler fought during his great career and although he is a tremendous fighter, I don't believe that he would stand much of a chance of beating Marvin Hagler. I believe that Hagler would control this fight from the beginning and would land the quicker and harder punches and would stop Abraham in the 7th round.

great experience up. Toney is obviously the greater useful boxer quite on protective, has a good chin and between the proper counter punchers ever, yet Marvin is likewise no slouch means sensible, additionally has a granite chin, greater useful footwork and incorporates merely as lots potential (if not greater) as Toney at one hundred sixty. i do no longer see the two guy getting stopped in this combat, Marvin's rigidity and aggression might shop Toney on his motorbike. Toney might have flashes of brilliance by potential of slipping punches and countering along with his precise, yet Marvin will certainly outwork Toney for a UD win. a substantial Hagler at one hundred sixty ought to pose problems for any fighter at that weight.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that you're a fan of Arthur Abraham, I thought so. Its cool everyone has their opinion or their favorites. But putting him in the ring with the "Marvelous" one, now that's just plain crazy. If you like the guy so much don't go putting him in the "deep" end of the pool with a Great White Shark.

Bottom line I am in agreement with what appears to be most if not all of the responses, Abraham isn't even in Hagler's league, I would go so far as to say if Gatti fought Abraham he'd beat him, (looking around for any sniper fire). But keep asking questions, how else can we find out the view of the masses. Thanks

If I say Sir would it lead to another outburst, lifes to short to get stressed over courtesy. Chill

a_p_ - A matchup between a legend of the fight game and a man who has yet to fight the level of competition that the legend fought. Hagler was a fighter to be avoided, and was by many top flight middleweights and middleweight champions of that time period. Hagler showed the will and guts he possessed by going into hostile territory(watch video of the Minter fight and you will know what I mean) and take the title from Minter, on Minter's home soil, England. He was also smart enough to know that he couldn't leave it up to the British judges and busted Minter's face up to earn a TKO victory and start truly one of the legendary title runs in boxing history.
"King" Arthur has yet to prove himself as a man who could even stand in the same ring with the Marvelous One. Although current IBF champion, he is inexperienced when compared to the Marvelous One. Since Abraham shows no desire to fight outside of Germany, the fight will take place there. Hagler would "punch" his ticket to the school of boxing. Arthur wouldn't be able to keep up with the pace Hagler would set, and with Arthur's brittle hands he would not be able to punch with the Marvelous One either. Hagler would break down and bust up Abraham and within six rounds this fight would be over. Hagler by brutal KO after wearing Abraham down with a torrid pace of relentless brutal punching. Thanks for the question sir.

a_p_ - I've seen "King" Arthur fight(showed a lot of guts continuing with a broken jaw), and though a current champion, you're grasping at straws matching him up against Hagler.

a_p_ - Sir is a sign of respect take it as such.......

I think Hagler blasts him out in under 4 rounds. Abraham has not fought anyone near the caliber that Hagler did in his career. Abraham won a vacant title and isn't even the best middleweight in the world now. Haglar was considered the best middleweight in the world for a very long time.

Sir ~
In my opinion, you can't be serious in thinking this would be a good match up for Abraham? Just comparing thew quality of opposition of these two fighters would separate these two worlds apart. You have a Hall of Fame fighter going against a guy who's fought the likes of Kofi Jantuah, Howard Eastman, Kingsley Ikeke and Edison Miranda with the exception of Howard Eastman who was a good fighter, not a great fighter who are these other guys?
Marvelous Marvin Hagler, he had his name legally changed, fought the very best of his era John "The Beast" Mugabi, Tommy Hearns, Mustafa Hamsho, Roberto Duran, Ray Leonard, Wilford Scypion and Englishman Alan Minter.
Abraham's record is 22 and 0 with 17 wins coming by way of knockout. Haglers record is 62 and 3 with 2 draws and 52 wins coming buy way of knockout Hagler has more than twice as many knockouts than Abraham has fights.
I watched Abraham's last fight against Miranda and he is a good club fighter but other than that nothing special, I can take you over to the Legendary Blue Horizon on any fight night and show you fighters that fight the same way he does on any night, exciting but nothing special. He had his jaw severly broken in two spots against a guy who couldn't brake a egg. Abraham gets hit way too much. He ate more crisp shots over the top than most fighters eat in three fights. He let Miranda fight Mirandas fight, do you honestly believe that he wanted to be bullied around the ring and fouled at every avalible oppourtunity?
Hagler would have had his way with Abraham at any point in his career weather it was when he was at his worst, his loss to Leonard or in his prime in with his fight against Alan Minter. Hagler would give lots more than he would take. This fight would be very simular to Haglers 2nd fight against Vito Antofermo. A bloody mess would be the outcome.
Hagler would stop Abraham in less than eight rounds and probably retire him. Arhtur has no business in the ring with Hagler.
Thanks for the question Sir.

Sir ~
This is just my opinion, it seems like you're more interested in arguing your point with the people that answer questions here, that you, in my opinion, want to dictate how people respond to your questions. Brent, Toughguy, Brad and a few others are very knowlegeable when it comes to this sport, you can deffintely learn more than a few things from these guys, Oh, I admit you have your share of crack pots here, there's no doubt, but Brent isn't one of them. It seems like you're a good fan and it seems that most of the fighters you like are from Europe and you take offense when people don't agree with you, that's what this all about brother. People are here to give their opinions, and you know what they say about opinions.

At first I thought this was a joke question - we're talking about a guy with less than half as many fights on his resume than Hagler had knockouts, and the biggest name he's fought has been Howard Eastman.
Hagler might have used him as a sparring partner, but that's about it.
