Good question!
I am a physicist by degree and I am also a Christian. Many athiest often refer to the Bible and religion as man's explanation for the world around them, however, science is EXACTLY that. Not only that, the more I learned about the processes by which we as scientists believe the world works, the more impossible it seemed that everything was just chance or coincidence.
Please, keep searching for the truth about God. If you really want to know He will show you.

Christians, as an entire, do no longer try this in any respect. some Christians are Bible literalists, and function hardship with some technology. it is often in Turkey, and u.s. - something persons are superb. as quickly as I left my medical job to circulate into Seminary, a minimum of 0.5 my fellow scholars have been scientists. Many advances in cutting-side technology are being made by capacity of Christians, even monks (e.g., the guy who got here up with the great Bang concept - Father Georges Lemaitre). regrettably, Yahoo solutions isn't an incredible place to get a correct examining of issues religious! E.g., atheists are in basic terms 2.3% of the international's inhabitants, yet they seem a pair of million/2 the persons right here some days.

I believe personal beliefs are personal. I don't "claim" there is no God, I just don't believe in one. Nor do I try to argue whether there is a God or not. Really brilliant people have debated this issue for a looooong time, and in a funny way, I think it comes down to what people who do believe in God use as their final justification. It's not provable, therefore it becomes a matter of personal choice and faith. I have faith there is no God. But I would never try to convince anyone that what is true for me should also be true for them.

yes i believe science over the magic they claim in the bible. i know its not real magic, its just like poof there it is. that to me is really hard to believe. but i also take into account that Christianity is one of the younger religions and that each religion has its own theories, so how can one be right, especially one that's so young in comparison. i believe in science, so its just right for me to be atheist. i used to be pagan, and i really do think that energy has a lot to do with the flow of nature and life, i just dont believe it enough to follow it anymore. i know for sure, 100% i saw an energy ball in my house, and i know beyond a shadow of a doubt it was my dog who died 3 years ago. there was just this presence that was her. no doubt about that. didn't look like her, just an energy ball, but i could feel it to my core. science cant explain that, but neither can religion. but its my belief. its hard to explain, i guess i sound nuts. but there is more to our world then what we see, there has to be. i just dont think that an all knowing being put it or us there. there is too much science saying otherwise.

It is that I have never seen evidence that there has been a God in my life. The only thing that comes close is my son, of course. His birth is just biology actually. I could never adhere to religious dogma that makes no sense.
There is a part of me that still believes that there may be a God. His existance, or not, has no affect on my soul crossing over after my body dies.

I am an atheist and a scientist. If there is scientific evidence of something, I use it to make certain decisions. However, science isn't the best tool to use for questions of theology. Common sense is. My common sense tells me that religion is a poor substitute for a kind and compassionate approach to life.

Again we are not making any claims. If you make a claim I will use science, reasoning and experience to evaluate that claim whether it is belief in the paranormal or in God or whether Barcelona are better than Chelsea.

A few contradictions? Upwards of 1000. I use common sense and reason. Science tends to go well with those though.

I am agnostic/atheist, former strict christian.
I used a number of sources to come to unbrainwash myself.
http://www.geocities.com/b_r_a_d_99/
this is a good site which shows a lot of contradictions and fallacies in the Bible and christian ways of thinking.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND
But I also use science, multiple viewpoints, and common sense is a big one.

you'll figure out at some point! I don't think anyone can really substantially "back up" their beliefs for you because it's all just what you believe - not what "is" That's what bothers so many about faith. They don't understand you can't make someone believe something you do because no one can absolutely prove/disprove this subject.
