Pixie is totally right. While you can get married in Mexico, they require a lot more documentation than you will need in the United States to make it legal. It is a legal binding contract. If you dont have all the required information that they need, you can still go through with the ceremony, but it wont be recognized by their government, therefore wont be recognized here.

Check out the link I included- it breaks it all down for you! Congratulations and good luck!

I love how everyone assumes you are too young to get married in the U.S just because you want to get married in Mexico! That did not even cross my mind, I assumed you were asking as part of a destination wedding.

Now for the answer. Yes, you can. You have to find out the legal requirement to make sure you marriage is recongnized in the U.S as well, but this has become a trend as of lately, so it should not be hard. I am also considering a destination wedding, and have found there are resorts that offer wedding packages which include the legality issues of it since it is becoming more common. Check out some resorts in the area and ask about wedding packages and they include. They tend to simplify the whole process for you!

You can legally get married in Mexico...people do it all the time. You will have to follow Mexico's rules regarding marriage license, etc. Concult a wedding planner who specializes in destination weddings, or talk to someone at the Mexican Consulate. They should be able to give you specific details.

Yes. But because of the different laws of United States and Mexico, and because they are completely different countries, this marriage will be legal and true only in Mexico not in the United States. So my recommendation get married in both places, so this way it would be legal in both.

why would u be asking this unless you are too young to get married in the u.s.a.
but anyways, yes it is legal to get married in mexico or anywhere else in the world and still be married under the united states law.

its like you got married in mexico as a joke, (i have heard this) and then after about it, a few years later you want to get married in the u.s. and you can not because first you need to divorced the fling from mexico.

Yes, you can. If the marriage is sanctioned by Mexico, you are legally married. Marriage that is recognized in another country is recognized in the US.
