Yeah, it can happen a lot. Lamictal was a ***** to titrate up on - every dosage increase caused a few days of insane mood cycling.
Abilify is an odd one: it's an antipsychotic approved for the treatment of bipolar mania. It hits serotonin, dopamine and histamine receptors, which makes it activating rather than sedating like most atypical antipsychotics. All very odd, but it should settle down in a week or two, but if it doesn't then go see your doc again.

Are you depressed and manic at same time? If so your having a mixed episode and could possibly have them until you are stabilized on this new med dose. On the other hand if you up'ed your dose on abilify because it wasn't working in the first place then when you want to try something else call the Dr. It has taken me 6 years to find the best combination of meds and I hated that roller coaster. I feel so bad for you today because I've been there. Hang in there.Rest it off and give the Doc a heads up. By the way I take wellbutrin for depression not the downers.; I was so lazy and tired on the downers, I had no life.

In some cases any time you change a medications you will get side effects even meds as simple as blood pressures meds will cause side effects and mood effects. It is normal for things to take 2 weeks for your body to adjust but you are your BEST keeper and knows what is right for you and what works for you. Bad thing about the medical field is it is a fact people can have inbalances due to many reasons. We have many hormones and enymes that mix and they must mix properly. Remember ALL people run into inbalances through their lives, it is a normal thing. As an example when we are stressed we get reactions and effects from that, some withdraw, some eat, some drink etc. When we go through a death in the family those emotions change and so do our balances. No one is even key 24/7,but it is finding ways to readjust and get back in balance. Meds are needed for some people because it is a medical issue, bad thing is there are many different type of medications on the market but we have not yet came up with a test to know where the inbalance is.. as an example if you have sugar problems, we have a test for that and an easy one at that and know to do and how to take care of it. With mood inbalances science has not came to that so the only thing a doctor can do is listen to you and experiement with which med will work.. YOU are the one that will know, but remember you must give them time and dont allow a doctor to keep changing them on your rapidly. Bad thing you still have the past med in you while they change again. I went through aniexty and never had it before, but I found going outside and laying in the sun, taking walks, or getting involved in something really made me feel better. I used a low dose med for a short period then worked with natural happiness ways which worked well for me and was off of everything in a short time. Sitting at home and thinking and thinking about it will make it worse, excape it from your mind. Now if the thoughts and feelings are taking over you..PLEASE let someone know and let your doctor know. Dont always do it on your own. This might not be the right med. Some people react differently to different meds, and if your doctor does not listen then change doctors. People have to be responsible for their health and get educated.. a nice short trip with some fun loving friends do wonders in the mean time of going through this.
good luck to you honey.

I would work on the root issue causing the problem. A possible solution may be a program of some sort. I recommend The Peace Plus Program www.peaceplusprogram.com
