That does sound a bit fishy... make sure you're system is all updated... and the software is also... there was a new version of iTunes just released. If after that it still no luck... I'd call applecare tech support, as long as you have had the computer for under 90 days or you have extended applecare and are within your 3 years, they can help you with any system and software issues.

And if you don't see if you have a near by apple store and set up an appointment to speak to one of their Genius people...

The reason you're experiencing this problem is probably because another application has changed your computer's audio setting to a sample rate that is too high for iPhoto or iDVD to use. If this is the case, you can solve the problem by charging the sample rate back to the default setting.

1. Open the Audio Midi Setup application (located in Applications → Utilities), and select the "Audio Devices" tab.
2. Under Audio Output, click the drop-down menu next to "Format" and select 44100.0 Hz.
3. Quit the Audio Midi Setup application.

Hopefully that should solve the problem.
