Cooked Pumpkin

"Here is an easy method for cooking fresh pumpkin and making your own puree."
Original recipe yield: 4 to 6 cups

INGREDIENTS
1 medium sugar pumpkin

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
Cut pumpkin into small manageable pieces and cut off pith and seeds.
Place cut pumpkin skin side up in a large roasting pan. Add 1/4 water and bake uncovered for 1 hour or until tender. Remove from oven and allow pumpkin to cool.
When cooled, cut away skin and mash or puree. Use in any recipe that calls for canned pureed pumpkin.

I just cut them in half, scoop out the seeds and mess inside and bake it til it's tender. Then it is easy to peal. I cut it in chunks and run it through the blender. I've been making pumpkin cheese cake instead of pie and it's been a big hit! Best of luck and enjoy!

Cut into quarters, then remove the seeds and strings. Next peel off the rind. Cut into smaller chunks and boil or steam until very soft. Stain boiled pumpkin with cheesecloth. From here you can either mash or puree the pumpkin and use it in your recipe.

not sure. Try cleaning the pumpkin then bake in oven when done scrape it off the skin and add spice and evaporated milk,eggs and bake in pie tin. good luck

shred the pulp, mix with sugar,cinnamon,nutmeg, let it drain a little. use a store-bought pie shell like Pillsbury, put the filling in the middle and roll jelly-roll style. bake and you have the best imitatio-strudel
