No, the new local provider will pay Bell South to use there phone lines. It is great now that we have a choice for our local phone service. You can save some money and maybe keep the same number if you like. You should not have any problems with the new phone service in fact you probably will never know the switch took place. Yea same as above they should let you know prior to recieving service.

I doubt you will have to dial an access number though, you may have a different prefix, the translations should be set up to allow you to dial any number the same as bell south would allow. Provided you are recieving the same service/plan.
