My daughter has found a sugar beet on her country walk and wants to taste it. Is it ok for human consumption?

Be a bit like a raw potato...but fine. Lots can upset the stomach though.

I regularly have salad with shredded raw sugar beet on it. It's very tasty, though it does turn the salad dressing pink. :-)

Not really advisable.....mainly for animal feed...it's grated grated then dried...you add water and soak it over night before feeding to your farm beasties or horses.

Yes, peel it & slice it up, it will be a milder flavor than when cooked. i luv them doen julienned on my salads. YUM!

i think it needs to be refined! sugar cane is edible though
