My dentist told me to use a popsicle stick when I can to push it outward. He says it will be easy once it gets past the opposite line of teeth.

Oh, I'm 23 years old.

Will this work? If so, how long does it take?

FYI: He said this after I said that orthodontics was not worth it for a tooth that isn't visible when I smile.

Alright... for the people that think this is insane...IT CAN WORK...if you are not willing to go through the process of orthodontics and you are very diligent in the popsicle stick. Orthodontics move teeth by putting a force on the tooth over a period of time. Often an upper tooth will get "trapped" behind the lower teeth. AN orthodontist to correct this problem would temporarily open the bite and then push this tooth forward. The tooth can't get over the bottom teeth naturally because everytime you close or bite...there is a force pushing it back to where is was. The only problem with a popsicle stick is you have very little control on where you would push the tooth and you would have to have the popsicle stick in there for at least 6-8 hours of the day for many days (this would vary greatly) to jump the bottom tooth. Obviously this would be hard. If you did not want or couldn't afford braces....another option would be a retainer with a wire attached pushing the tooth forward...again the bite would need to be opened. All of this though depends on space for that tooth...If the tooth got to its current position because there wasn't enough room for it...then neither option would work well.

Hi,
Your Dentist must think you have great tenacity. He/she must have been day-dreaming about being home with family. Or you are pulling my leg. Perfect teeth are boring. My favorite Actors have their own non-veneered, or braced up teeth.
However, if you feel the tooth is looking South, when the others are looking North, consider an Orthodontist.
Another drawback, is, if you are seeking to move the tooth around, plan on T.M.J. (Temporal Mandibular Joint) dysfunction, if you get a Rookie.. I have met more clicking jaws from having their teeth moved around. (My son for instance).
I prefer Root-beer Popsicles

check for a dentist that does invisalign, this seems like it would be your best option. No popsicle sticks involved. after being in this industry for 16 years I have NEVER heard something so ridiculous.

I'd be getting a 2nd opinion. Any "real" dentist would NOT have said to do something foolish like that.

Where did this so-called dentist get his license? In a Cracker Jack box?

Get another dentist. Of course that won't work.

SHEESH!

yes it will work.... eat an apple first using mainly that tooth to loosen it, then use the stick to apply pressure..... it take a while, but not as long as braces, and definately cheaper!
