Measure the door and measure the sofa first.

Try taking the front door off its hinges by removing the pins in the door hinges.

The legs off the sofa may also be able to be unscrewed or come off. If so, remove the sofa legs.

Firstly, the sofa has to be shorter than the door is tall - if its longer, you have a problem.

Put the sofa on one end, so that the inside of the "L" shape faces the lock (NOT the hinge & door) side of the door. You should then be able to manhandle the sofa around this side of the door frame.

(Its a lot harder to explain then actually do!)
