I see nothing wrong with honoring a person with a cenotaph, so neither do I see anything wrong with honoring Jesus on a day that was not his birthday. Not that Christmas is only about Jesus or Christianity anymore. I personally like some of its secular aspects, though, like most people, I regret that it has become so commercialized.

Because there is so little left of the original Mithras faith it is hard to say if He was born then or not. It is suggested that both Christianity and Mithras "borrowed" heavily from each other so it could be the birth date for either of them or neither.
If you really look at it, I seriously doubt Jesus was born in December anyways. Mary and Joseph were on the road to be counted in the Roman census which occurs in summer. Not to mention that the "angle of the lord appeared to the shepherds with their flocks in the hills" wouldn't have happened in December either.
But then again it was easier to convert the Pagans by changing the Winter Solstice holiday celebrating the birth of the Sun God with the holiday celebrating the son of God considering they converted all the Pagan holy places into churches.

Maybe we should rename December 25, Mithra's day. After all it was Mithra's birthday before it was Christs. No one knows when Jesus was born, but the Shepard's were still in the fields, and in December they are not in the fields.

if you like doing myths do Mithras-and shepherds brought the sheept to be sacrificed all year long-and Israel is a warm climate-only once that I know of it snowed in Jerusalem-and some day you will bow to Jesus the true God-with or without this card - "Every knee shall bow." you may say now no-this is the free will time to do it-the next one with or without the card-will be at the judgement to hell gnashin teeth forever for rejecting salvation in the word of God -John 12vs48
good question and why would Jesus triumph over all false god's -did you ever play hearts or spades there is a trump card that beats the rest-peace up to you

Well I don't see why we put up nativity displays on Dec. 25th. Perhaps I'll ask.
