warranty ! installation method can be important if do it yourself-er - type of surface finish ( some have actual grain embossed ) get a PERGO catalog they have lots of general information in them - if buying from a dealer make sure the proper TRIM pieces are available ( order EXTRA for future repair - the line may be unavailable then )
all of the above assumes you mean LAMINATE flooring that looks like wood - not prefinished wood flooring ( people get them confused )

The thicknes of the top layer and its scratch and dent resistance. Also, if it is pads check to make sure the bottom of the pad is cork. The cork will make it easier to walk on by giving a little cusion.
