I truly pity the fools that think they have to protect Kerry. Kerry said what he meant to say in very clear and plain English. I've seen the transcript of the speech and nothing was taken out of context. He said what he meant. And what he said is important because this man is in DC and helps set American policy and laws.

However, most who know about Kerry's military career, know it wasn't really an insult to himself. He nominated himself for his Purple Hearts. One of them, was for splinters in his butt. He did less time than anyone else in Vietnam. He used his metals to get out of the service time most troops did in country. Once he returned home, he joined the protesters and tossed his awards away. Even then, he showed what the thought of his fellow troops and America.

He's a disgrace. In fact, he was set to attend many speeches between now and the election. Many of those candidates have canceled his appearance. That is a FACT. So, for those who want to defend him, perhaps you can explain why his own party is turning their backs. Maybe they're not blind to what was really said.

One small correction! Kerry was a naval officer, for which side is very much in debate.

The big winner in the Kerry hoopla is Hillary. It kind of looks like she dropped a dime on Obama with his land deal back in Illinois. It seems that he and Rezko, a political hack who worked for Blow dry Blogo, the Governor of IL, and who is under indictment for bribe taking, is a next door neighbor of Obama. There seems to be something really smelly about the whole deal, and when the air clears, we might find Mr. Clean Jeans ain't so clean after all. Stay tuned! Hillary would be the winner, once again!

All Kerry suggested was that the U.S. troops are "stuck" in Iraq, and there's no falsehood in this remark. Have you seen any indication that the U.S. troops will be treated with the dignity they deserve?-- or have you more seen they are being abused by over-extended tours of duty, called back from reserves, being put on trial, being visited every now and then by the "commander-in-chief" for the sake of a political stunt, and perhaps worst of all being wounded for life, emotionally scarred, and getting killed for no damn reason other than having pledged allegiance to a government now using its military indiscriminately around the world for its own vested economic interests (including ramming a capitalist "democracy" down people's throats)?

Kerry is one of the only people in congress willing to oppose Bush's lies, but these are the days people are more interested in winning elections than they are in the truth. His speech did not say that people in the military are "uneducated." He said that if you don't make it in college you are likely to end up in the military because A DRAFT is highly likely in the future given the U.S. war machine and the desires of your elected officials to plow through the Middle East as long as its all done with the excuse of "fighting terrorism" (God knows the people answering this question who hate Kerry so much would support more and more war no matter what the cost).

The only "fact" in any of the above answers is that most military persons and thier families have it in for Kerry because he is willing to oppose the president.

jmminnc: it's "college" and not "collage" Just further evidence that uneducated people blissfully oppose the truth and support Bush's lies.

This is not the first time Kerry has said this about soldiers. He called them uneducated a few years back.(you think this to, but they have a higher GPA than nonmilitary) He has lied about actions he and others have done just to give him self fame and to hurt men still in harms way. I fully well know Democrats hate the military and are happy to see flags over coffins, but it was nice to see them keep it to them selves. Now it starts to come out.

By the way Bush got better grades in collage and he did get a MBA Kerry did not so who studied more. You point is with out fangs.

So he was only a navy guy? Well I would not have wanted to serve on a gunboat in Vietnam it was dangerous duty. I'm not a big fan of this guy but I do think he deserves some respect. And you people here that are criticizing him and yet what did Bush do? His family pulled some strings so he could serve here at home in the National Guard.

Maybe he was purposely giving everyone an in-site into his true intelligence level while trying to play it off as a joke against our president gone awry.

Obviously you haven't read what the speech was supposed to say (the way the speech writer wrote it) - It was supposed to say (to paraphrase) "If you aren't educated and knowledgable, then you end up SENDING us to Iraq - Just ask President Bush."
He left out the "sending us" part - He screwed up the "slam" against Bush and his administration. He's not stupid - He just can't tell a joke!
