You need to go to your school counselor, they will help you in the right direction. Please take this from someone who dropped out and left home at 16. You NEED to finish school and go on and get a job and attend your local community college. You can get full grants and financial aide. Please go talk to your school counselor, or even the school principal. If nothing happens there, find your local family welfare location in your phone book. It is called CFS, Child and Family Services here. Talk to them, they will help you. Good luck

You are at the age where you may think that you know it all.. I don't know the reasons why you were kicked out, but talk to your family they will most likely help you out, if you come to an agreement on following their house rules. I went through this with my sister and she had to do some community service and of coarse she was allowed back to the house, but with rules. She was the same age when this happen. DO not miss your court date if you have one... it will be worse on you as you will be an adult soon. You best bet is to hire you a lawyer if you have any money saved up, if you don't then you may want to think about it and ask for help. Do remember that stuff like that can haunt you when you are trying to get your life in gear and get a good paying job. Good Luck and remember that family is always there to help if you want the help.

Actually...your parents are at fault for kicking you out before you were 18. You are thier responsibility until then. And its against the law to just kick your child out.
With that being said....you had no choice but to move, so when you go to the hearing, explain this to them. An advocate might suggest getting your GED or atlernative schooling. In most of thise, you do your work at your pace and on computers. My son is getting credits he lost this way. Did you enroll after you moved to Galviston? at another school? if so....take those records with you. I really dont think they will do anything serious, and your parents should be held accountable.
Good Luck !!!!

LOL! School systems are so ridiculous. Fight it. Have a meeting with the school board--explain the situation. Were you going to school in Galveston? If you were then they have nothing they can call you on. Truly it is your parent's fault if anyone. Are you emancipated? If you aren't then THEY are the ones who will be in trouble--not you.
I also moved out young at sixteen. I had enrolled in high school but it turned out I graduated the summer before the school year started. They tried to get me for truancy even after they knew I had my HS diploma and was living in another state.

The above statements are true. You arenot the only one charged with truancy issues. Your parents are responsible until you are eighteen. When you go to the hearing, bring papers to show that you were in Galveston and what you were doing, your residence, a job, etc. Also explain the reason why you left and what your father had said. Explain that you are young and were confused, didn't realize what you were supposed to do.

Try going to night school and i feel for you and I'm glad that you are making it on your own. This will show your father that you are a real man and one day when you have children you will know how not to treat them because you had 2 bad examples. As far as the truancy I'm sure if you tell the school your dilemma they can work something out with you.

I am guessing that in Texas school is mandatory for everyone under 18.... otherwise it would not be an issue.
It still isn't an issue. Go see the judge, tell him your story, and the only thing that will happen is that you have to take a day off of work to do it. (I assume you have no arrest record and are not wanted for anything.... if you are, you are close enough to mexico to make a break for it)
Good luck.

You need to go to the principal of your school and explain the situation to him/her. The principal has the power to drop the truancy charges since he/she is the one who reported you truant in the first place. The principal may need to get in contact with your father to confirm the story. Is that possible? Hopefully you and your dad can reconcile, or at least you can go back and make up that year of school. It's hard out there without a diploma.
