I just read another - and quite interesting - question about what the problem is that some religious people have with gay sex and gay marriage. And again, there it was - "God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve". Please, people, restore my faith in the human race and move past this phrase, which is only used, surely, because of the lame rhyme. Surely no-one actually believes that it's a valid argument, do they? Please, people, I need to believe there's hope for our brains yet...Help me out here...

Hey Pangel - yeah, thanks it was your interesting take on the issue I was reading when the Adam and Steve thing made me post this.

CFC - nope, not gay - happily married to a beautiful woman. But hey, what can I tell ya...I'm a thinker!

I-o-d-Tiger, thanks. Know the verses. Leviticus is full of other mad stuff that we've evolved beyond, of course - wearing clothes of two fibers is a sin apparently, but do we care? No.

And as a general note, I don't believe God made Adam....let alone Adam and Eve, Steve, Gary or Mark (sounds like a pop group...). My question is essentially, if you remove the rapid-fire twee rhyming stuff, and the Leviticus lunacy, can we please try and engage the subject on an adult, mature level, rather than sounding like something thought up in a playground at break time?

You might like to know that in the original Hebrew Adam means man as in mankind, not male. (Translations from Hebrew into Greek have caused countless misinterpretations. For instance: The Hebrew word for "on" is the same for "by". It's pretty clear that some translator along the way got the wrong end of the stick and Jesus was now walking on the water rather than by the water.)
The problem, of course, is when people start making dogma from ancient religious texts and start telling the rest of us how to live. The Bible may or may not have a metaphorical truth, but when taken literally it's just codswallop.

My friend you are missing the point in that simple phrase. Please keep an open mind before you read this so you can understand.

"Adam and Steve" is not their for the sake of rhyming alone, but also to prove one other aspect which most people who are in the Homosexual camp believe. This being evolution. If someone who is in the evolutionary camp you might understand that being Adam and Steve is an evolutionary dead end.

Meaning since you cannot properly (<< keep an eye on this word) procreate you are in an evolutionary dead end of the species which disagrees with the theory of evolution. Also natural selection.

(Properly)
Further if you were to say "sure we can through adoption or artificial insemination" which is surely dependent on technology and not the biological processes naturally occurring thus causing a contradiction in belief in homosexuality and evolution makes you in short a hypocrite. sigh.. enough said.

Well, maybe the humorous rhyme is not the best possible explanation, but I think that fact that God made man and WOMAN to be his companion and helper, says enough for itself.
People tend to find what they are looking for no matter what, so there are those who will read Scripture only for homosexuals justification sake. The truth is that we have to act (and speak) according to our conscience and the time will come when we'll see who was right and who was wrong. Maybe we were all right, but till then will have to listen to our inner voice.
And one more thing. You don't need to believe if there's a hope for my brain, I'll worrie about that, with Gods help.

Hey, that's true. Suppose the original "Adam and Eve" tale was "Adam and Mark"? Just cause some guy in a weird hat and a robe tells you how to live, means you're going to believe it? I' m not saying gay is right. But who know's what could have happened? Everyone wants to kill gay people and send em to jail for being gay, hell i've got alot of gay friends and they are not only great people to shop with, they are the only males *that i know of* that actually have some sense in their brains. Although...some of tthose gay people who dress in the fishnets and walk like a duck...that gets annoying. My friends, you wouldn't even know they're gay. I know i didn't at first.

The Word says that homosexuality is an abomination to God. So when people say that they are born that way--that is a lie from Satan--God would not create something that was an abomination to him. We are beautifully and wonderfully made in God's eyes. God also said,"Be fruitful and multiply". And I won't even comment about birth control.
It also says that in the last days, men will lay down with men and women with women. God was warning us of what was to come and it has certainly been fulfilled. The Word is our instructions for life and how we should live. If you research homosexuality in the Bible you too will see that God hates the sin. Loves the sinner, but hates the sin. And let's please remember that all sins are the same in God's eyes--whether it's a lie, blasphemy, homosexuality or abortion--but forgiveness is the ultimate solution and it only comes through the Father.

Because no matter WHAT you say, its fundamentally true. God made man and woman, to be together. Being gay is a SICKNESS, not natural, if it was natural you'd be able to have kids (BIOLOGICALLY) and lesbians wouldn't feel the need for dildo's...also, men wouldn't feel the need to insert their sicks into hols...they are perverting the course of nature and are unclean in the eyes of God. He is pretty open minded to still love them I'd say.

youre right ofcourse, people just dont understand homosexuality (well those who arent gay ofcourse) so its diffficult when they try to understand how its not a choice, just like you dont choose to be straight? you dont wake up one morning and be like oh today I wanna start liking members of my same sex!! I tbaffles e tooo, but himans fear what they dont understand, and the Adam and Steve quote isnt valid because even christans have been coming out these days, plus God didnt make conjoint twins, adam and eve werent stuck together..and yet there are conjointb twins in the world, and god didnt make adam nor eve have down syndrome did he? but there is ds these days so its wrong, and you cant go about killing everybody who is gay in the world because there will always be people being gay, so if god condemned it then why is he allowing new people to be born homosexuals everyday? I believe in time people will come to understand..its a bit like racism really, they stopped treating black people like monkeys and stop[ped seing them that way so the same thing can surely happen with gays..

Read Leviticus chapter 18 verse 22 Then read Revelation 21 verse 8 I'm surely not going to insult your intelligence by quoting them since I'm sure that you can look them up for yourself.

The actual reality the truth has already been revealed but not understood. The human person is not free to do whatever they want to do under the pretext of freedom that is not freedom that is liscence. Freedom is the ability to do what you ought to do, what should you do? To know, love and serve God with your whole heart mind and strength. We dont make God into what we want Him to be we allow God to raise us up into what we ought to be, we dont drag Him down. We dont turn the truth upside down and call them a lie and call the lies truth, deciding for ourselve what is good and what is evil. I say I'm taking that birth control pill, I say I'm going to have that abortion, I say that I dont need to go to Holy Mass. I say I can run to this that and the other sexual experience irrespective to any authority above or beyond me. I believe in the lie and so I die. I step into the darkness and out of the light, and if your life is dark how dark, how very dark can the darkness be. Step outside of Gods Wisdom and you'll be very unhappy.
Marriage is a very Holy thing, it is sanctity, it enters into Gods life
The total self giving of man and woman to become one and out of that oneness and love comes forth new life. The creation of new life out of love, thats God like, thats sanctity, anything short or outside of that is an abomination to God.
Gay sex or Gay marriage is not in accord with the divine law,its not in accord with the natural law, its not in accord with right reason, its not in accord to Church teachings which Christ entrusted the truth in faith and morals.
What do we do when people find themselve in that mess. well, we love them, we show compassion and we help them as best we can to make them understand to get out of that lie and back into the truth because it is the truth that sets you free.

Its just a silly phrase that rhymes well...don't take everything that you read or hear in the media so seriously...be your own person and make your own decisions in life...don't worry about what other people say or believe in!
