It is difficult to help you, as I don't know the value of
Rs.18'000.
I guess you're a beginner (sorry if I should be wrong). You don't need to spend your money to get the camera with most megapixels, 4 or 5 should be enough.
Important will be the zoom. Don't fall for a big digital zoom - it has no value at all. The number you must look at is the OPTICAL ZOOM. Look for a camera with at least
5 x optical zoom, that will give you some freedom to compose your pictures.
Should you intend to make pictures with little light, you must also go for a camera which offers a wide range of light sensibility.
You will certainly find something that suits you among Nikon or Canon. Olympus offers also a big choice.

Depends on what you want your camera for! If you want it for quick pictures, the Casio EX-S600 is great. It is really small, cute and the pictures are pretty good quality. If you want a professional camera, there are many you can buy!! Not only Nikon. You can go to the Costco where they have good cameras, I'm sure they can help you with what camera to buy. =]

Get a cannon! They are pretty good. Also, look for megapixels at around 4.2 to 5.1. Anything other than that is optional.
