I would like to get married around Valentine's Day. I need some food, decor, invitation, and ceremony location ideas for someone on a tight budget. Thanks.

I wanted to get married on Valentine's Day too but if it was a Saturday and that does not happen until 2009 - too long. Next Year's Valentine's Day is on a weekday so if you get married the weekend that follows you can get many items on sale.

You can buy items at a party store for valentine's themed items, Ive seen some go on sale now. Have a small intimate wedding for a small budget. You can also try to enter a contest where other couples also get married on valentine's day, local radio stations do this.

Just remember, Valentine's Day is a hallmark holiday so a lot of stuff doubles in price. Make sure to shop early to get good deals. Limit your flower budget, Valentine's and mother's day the flowers are expensive.

*goodluck!*

Start shopping now at your local paper/party discount stores, you would be surprised at whats available in the way of decorations, & they are available all year around. Find 1 or 2 sizes of heart designs, do not go over board by buying too many as this will look cheap, red ribbon bows can also be just as pretty placed on the end rows or some chairs at the ceremony, then taken to the reception to be placed on the cake or head table. You can also find some in-expensive glass holders by the case, fill them yourself with silk red roses for each table decoration, or how about some red heart confettii sprinkled on a mirror with a few different sized candles, looks nice for an evening wedding. Don't forget to buy some throw away cameras for each table for guests to take some random pictures, makes a nice surprise to see the pictures your designated photo person would have missed. Everything can be purchased ahead of time, place in a box with your instructions & designate someone to do this for you. You can make up nice simple invitaions on the computer and purchase red/ or white envelopes at the same stores. As far as your food it depends on what time of day, are you having a brunchor dinner, appetizers and maybe some plastic champagne flutes with one strawberry and a little champagne stacked on a table for guest would be nice, you can have a variety of deserts with a small wedding cake. You can purchase appetizers ahead of time and just thaw out, again designate someone or ask your cook to do this. Location can be anywhere that is reasonable and available for your date, you can even get married in a park, don't concern yourself about the location/hall people are coming to see you and celebrate your day with you. Good for you on not going over board on the spending....small & intimate wedding is great, saving for the future is smart. Congratulations and Best Wishes to You and Your Fiance'.

I'm on a tight budget as well. First decide what is most important...like what you want to spend the bulk of your budget on. Then if for example you want awesome pictures and a great dress get what you want. Shop around...compare and then buy the dress of your dreams and hire a great photographer. Don't go crazy but don't compromise. You can find stunning things on a tight budget. Then on other things try and cut corners and bargain hunt.

As for Valentine's Day...

Valentines is a great wedding date....Hearts make the day(whatever color you choose)For food you need to know the time of the wedding. If right after a meal time---do cake and punch reception.A buffet style meal is very popular, and you can go with all finger foods then.Veggy tray, sandwich fixings, dip and chips, salads(adleast 3 different kinds)fresh fruit tray.If you are doing the decorations, to make the food look elegant, have it sit at different heights on the table.(use a solid colored piece of material, and turn stock pot and large bowls up-side down as the pedestals)Try it at home to see where to sit different foods. The highest pedestal can hold a bouquet of flowers.Have Fun ....

Flowers are going to be difficult, especially if you have your heart set of roses...because of the holiday, you'll be paying thru the nose for them!! Food and location costs are probably going to go up as well, just because holidays are most people's big money-maker times. Invitaitons are a year-round thing and unless they have hearts on them, the price shouldn't be too bad. Good luck!!

Just a suggestion but don't get married on a holiday. If your relationship doesn't work, you'll hate that holiday for the rest of your life.
