Well, I'd answer a food question if I thought I could offer reasonable advice or had tasted/cooked something relating to the question. I'd be able to give advice on making bread because I've done it, how to cook veggie because I've done it and bought the ingredients for years and suggest where to get the nicest biscuits (for example) based on personal preference and experience. I'm not a chef or anything but I did work in a pub kitchen for 3 years.
I think it depends on the question. For example, if you want to know how to cook something then a person with experience at cooking that particular dish will be the best - they might be a chef, or just someone with a lot of experience.
If you want to know what tastes best - then it will depend on personal opinion, but anyone who has eaten that particular food will be able to offer a good opinion. I expect people who are involved in the food industry - people who write menus, run delicatessans and have other food related jobs will also be able to offer good answers based on professional expertise.
Basically I think it all boils down to the experience of the answerer when you want to get a really good answer.

I eat food, drink drink, and your credentials are usually a way of referring to your bits without being personal.
I have eaten food for over 40 years and drunk drinks for a similar amount of time
I was a chef for 6 months in a proper restaraunt 20 years ago
If you struggle to find anyone with better qualifications i will be prepared to help..i know its a bit like having a hospital porter at a major road accicdent but hey, just trying to help
oh and i can spell croissant
Hope this helps

I am the most horrendous chef ever. My food is always awful, yet people eat it and I can't think why for the life of me. What I think is bad is obviously good. So I guess if that is the case, I must be a ton and a half better at answering that I really think I am. Logically speaking, I therefore am the best!

My creds are I always have more left over from my allowance than she does and I weigh less.
But I spect your criteria are something else?
