After all, the Book of Genesis states more or less that God has made people the custodians of the earth. Custodianship implies that it's our job to take care of it. However, there are some Christians who either believe that global warming isn't real or that it isn't important since the End Times are coming, anyway.

Some 'Christians' are DOMINIONISTS. They are true Christians and all non-Christians' enemy. They are the enemy of the Universe because they have chosen to treat all that they survey as theirs to use up and discard.

Scientists have proved beyond a doubt that Global Warming is a myth. Look at last winter, we had many days the coldest in history of about 100 years. Any idiot can see that hitting coldest days in history means no global warming.

Weather goes in approximately 7 year cycles and the cycles go in cycles.

Another thing, environmentalists do not listen to the real authorities about environmental issues, i.e. drilling for oil and gas. I live in an area where there has been much drilling and the landscape is beautiful and habitat is not disturbed in the area.

I think you answered part of your question in the second half of your asking.

They don't think global warming is real or isn't that important since the End Times are coming anyways.

I think part of it boils down to they just don't care. They may say that they do, but how can you claim to love the Earth when you dump tonnes of gallons of waste products into the water system, simply because it's more cost effective.

Huh.. maybe that's your answer.. being ecofriendly isn't financially friendly. They'd rather make a buck than save a tree.

I really don't know why they should feel that way.
Their attitude contributes to the bad name they have in the press.
Their attitude, as you point out, is unbiblical.
There is absolutely nothing contradictory to Christianity in environmentalist views - unless, of course, you start a cult to "Mother Earth", but that really is not environmentalism.

Could it have something to do with the fact that we use the expression "conservative Christianity", referring to conserving our basic beliefs, and some Christians seem to believe that this runs over into "conservative" politics, which has nothing to do with conservative Christianity? And because conservative politicians take stands, however weak, on one or two things that Christians agree with, then the Christians think they have to be in awe of everything these politicians say?
We Christians can sometimes be guilty of not thinking past the tip of our noses.

You've answered your own question at the end - there is a large movement within certain fundamentalist/evangelical sects that believes the 'end times' are near and that they are honored enough to be part of it. (Incidentially, this is really the sin of pride manifesting itself!)

Some of the idea, too, is that God will always provide for good Christians, and so it doesn't matter what they do, and that if God wanted, say, the Dodo to not go extinct, he would have not let it happen.

If you belong to a religion that says for your savior to come back to you and make everything 'good' again, everything's going to crap, I don't think you have a good reason to not ravage the earth. And while this view certainly isn't held by all christians it's held by enough of them to be more than a little disturbing.

Very good question, I have never understood this myself. I am looking forward to reading the answers. My theory is that many Christians are rebublicans because of the fact that the republicans have many common interests eith them, so they accept anti-environmentalism along with all of the rest...

Our President has done more to harm this planet than any before him. I did not vote for him!
