Two years ago nobody cared, now the Mexican flag is raised on a single flagpole in riots, and the Archie Bunker types are all steamed up with racist rhetoric.

The Republican theory doesn't explain the Mexican nationalism also displayed?

I am in favor of the law either way, I just can't understand the hatred part. We make it so easy to come here, and it is inestimably hard to remain in Mexico because of the faulty governance.

All respect to those that do fight for this country in all myriad ways, but I think most Americans fight there way off the couch for a bag of Cheetos more often than they do anything for the country.

I believe that it started when Bush began to promote his guest worker visa agenda. He had a good deal of support and the undocumented immigrants began to be hopeful. The house polled their constituancy and heard the previously quiet anger among their voters. The house passed a draconian bill that would make even clergy criminals. This bill gave the quiet anger a voice. The senate passed a more liberal bill giving the "illegal criminals" the ability to legalize their status.

So then you have the two sides who are voicing their views publicly but in a civil manner.

There is racism out there, but they are kept quiet because it is not attractive and the moderates don't want to be associated with them.

Then the marches. I think the marches were like lighting a match in a barrel of gasoline. Before you had thesed "poor hard-working immigrants" who deserved some sympathy and a moderate, Christian American would want to help them out.

After the marches, you have these defiant, arrogant, Mexican flag waving law breakers marching and demanding "rights". No longer a sympathetic group. Now they have shown themselves to be ungrateful, divisive and a threat.

They become the enemy and racism is set free to roam. All the anger can now be voiced because there is a legitimate target.

If you think all the angry people are archie bunker then you probably live in a place where there are not many immigrants or they have not changed your community drastically. Watching your community turn into a slum, full of people who refuse to speak English will bring out the archie bunker in the most generous soul.

In the border state where I live, illegal aliens are not sudden or new.We have been fighting this problem a very long time.it has nothing to do with any illegals race or nationality. Its a matter of the high cost of cheap labor.
Your description of the people that don't want to pay for illegal aliens is neither cute or correct. The same people that spout racism today have been doing that all their lives and have found the issue to their advantage. What about all the nasty vile racists words that are freely thrown at any and all people that want the illegals to stay in their home country's.Its a two way street for all of the racists on here.I never uses race related words or disrespect the pro group.I deal in facts and proven truth. Not idle rhetoric. The cost to my state from the uncontrolled flow of illegal aliens is extremely high. And it must be stopped. All illegals in this country are just that illegal and thus haven't the legal right to be here.Perhaps you need to face facts.
Both political party's are milking this issue to get votes. They both lie and make promises they can not and will not keep.
Analysis of the latest Census data indicates that Arizona's illegal immigrant population is costing the state's taxpayers about $1.3 billion per year for education, medical care and incarceration.

this has been a MAJOR concern for many years in California. In 1994 Californians passed prop 187 by a landslide. It was a simple solution to a major problem. It basically cut off social services to illegal aliens. Of course the ACLU could not allow that to happen because they are so concerned with AMERICAN civil liberties. It has become a major concern over the last two years because it is now draining the economies of all of the states. It is now a major problem because there are so many that entire cities are declaring themselves sanctuary in defiance of Federal Law. For those that think that "Big Business" is profiting from illegals, think again. These individuals are mostly employed by small business. Construction, janitorial, food, service type industries. Yes a few of those people are making a good living off the illegal trade but not big business.

Two years ago nobody realized how much of the overcrowding and failing schools and health care in border states was the result of unfettered illegal immigration. Two years ago, we didn't do the hard work to research what actual costs were, since the global press, like global business and labor interests, don't want to 'stir the pot' by giving us upsetting things like facts.

The marches opened our eyes to the sense of entitlement, and the 'this is our country' slogans and flying the Mexican flag while demanding rights here made some of us really research the issue. The damage from illegal immigration is extraordinary when you realize how little it is plainly stated in mainstream press. This puts those of us who usually only read mainstream press at a disadvantage.

However, a variety of accountings have occurred due to attempts by states to recoup a part of their losses from illegal immigration, and you can find them if you look.

I doubt you'll listen to a 'racist Archie Bunker' type as you apparently assume those against illegal immigration are. So you'd better do your own research. Try inputting "costs" and "illegal immigration" into your browser. Or "education" and "illegal immigration". Or "health" and "illegal immigration".

The fact that Americans have come to realize that over 100 million illegal immigrants are in this country and that more are coming in every day. The fact that Mexicans are rioting that this is "their" country.

I'm sorry, I am a Democrat, hispanic (Cuban-American) and not a racist. This is not about race. This is about economics and national security. I'm sorry that things are so bad in their country but that is not the responsibility of America. They need to take these issues to their governements instead burdening our economy.

I am not sure why, but it seems to me that people are more aware of how many immigrants we have here, taking our jobs, not paying taxes and putting our nation into dispair. This country is spending more money to help all of the 3rd world countries that our own people are starving and losing their homes. Not all but a majority of the immogrants come here and live a btter life than we as true Americans do. Also you have the terrorist threats. With so many people fleeing here to this country there is the threat every single day of who is a terrorist and who isn't. I just personally feel that we have way to many immigrants here already. They come here, they need to learn to speak english, hold jobs, pay taxes and be as proud of this country as we are. Tehy need to FIGHT for this country as we do, but you never really hear of a mexican or another nationality moving here and going to was to protect what they claim they want.

Where are you from Alaska? Remember they are coming in, in the millions, illegally. Imagine over a million, all getting driving licenses, well, in some states that's a photo ID. Is that what you want? And the Mexican Flags, they are flying them all across the country, even in our schools, with the help of the pro illegals and Democratic/Liberals. They have taken our American flag down and put their Mexican flag. Do you think that is right? Do you think that in Mexico you could get a driving license or fly the American flag? Are you crazy, they will not let you. Well, we shouldn't let them do it here either.
