my guess is plantar fasciitis. i have a great website for you to check out regarding foot conditions and care, myfootshop.com. for the heel pain the treatment is quite simple, you need to place 3/8 inch heel lifts into shoes, not a cushion, do not go barefoot and try simple stretches on the stairs with toes on edge and dropping heels below stair height. go to the site these are all outlined there. use the source as direct link to site

I have also been suffering for a while with heel pain and it is worse after long periods of sitting and also in the mornings. I went to a podiatrist(Foot Doctor) and he made orthotics which are inserts I have to wear in my shoes and they support my arches and the balls of my feet below my toes. He told me the pain was caused due to loosening the muscle under the foot which attaches to the heel and then when you rest or sleep the heel bone tries to recuperate and so when you strand it reverses all the repair work the rest provided. The orthotics have really helped a lot, go and see a good podiatrist, you won't be sorry. Good luck!

If it is worse in the morning when you first get up, it is almost definitely a heel spur.
The good news is that it is easy to treat. Go to a podiatrist and get orthodics.
The bad news is the insurance company will not pay for it unless you are a diabetic. They usually go for $300-400.
I got some of those phase 4 orthodics and they helped me a lot.

In all probability it is a spur. This is a condition when the bone of your heel becomes a little overgrown, and starts sticking out - something like the spur of a cowboy (hence the name). You need to get an X ray done to have it diagnosed.

It may be achilles tendinitis. Anytime it is a sore, dull pain, it just means it's been overworked a little or you had a mistep. Not much you can do but rest it and elevate it at night. The pain usually ceases in a few days.

Sounds like you could have a heel spur. Maybe you should talk to a foot doctor.

I believe the problem is a pain in the heel of your foot.
I suspect you're looking for the possible cause and the treatment??

if its kind of located in the front/bottom part of your heel and is worse after you've been off your feet for a while, it could be plantar fasciitis. I have that and its quite painful at times.
