My favourites are Les Visiteurs The Three Colors Trilogy - 3 Couleurs Bleu, Rouge, Blanc Le salaire de la peur The Battle of Algiers I have seen good French films more recently, but even they don't hold a candle to these.

Working Mens College (for women and men) in Camden (nearest station Mornington Crescent) have great French courses ranging from 2 weeks 'French To Go' course to Level 2 Certification. Great college (I studied there for 2 years) reasonable prices. Tel 08452021506

Don't know about North London. But try linkword languages there courses are done on the pc and are really easy.
