They were closed by the loony left wingers....just last night my hubby and I were thinking that it could be a viable business to run brat camps....just need a bleak scottish isle....some cattle prods, a few tents and lots of cold water and walking, that'll sort the brats out...

Feltham Borstal in Middlesex is still alive and kicking ,unfortunately the judges just don't seem to send people there anymore

Ye most borstals are shut nowadays he places they sent naughty
kids till they were 16.My mate was sent to one at 11 for nicking some broken biscuits of a railway truck,that were on the floor,
I ask you five years for three broken biscuits.But maybe
we should open them again give kids a taste of whats harsh
to waken them up.

They are now called Y.O.I ( Young Offenders
Institutes) and there is often one attached to an adult prison for example H.M.P.& Y.O.I Ashfield in Bristol . So watch out you youngsters or you could end up in one and they are NOT fun!

Youngsters have rights these days i'm afraid.
Corporal punishment was abolished in the 80's. I think it should be brought back but it won't.

I agree, we have one in Falkirk, Scotland and its full of scum too young to be in prison. Good enough for them. Bring back the belt at school and corporal punishment, and watch that crime rate fall.

i think that if a young person keeps re-offending they should be made to join the army (once 17) for a minimum3 years
