Try a temporary dye first off of the colour that you would like, that way it washes out after 3-6 washes and you still get a good idea of whether or not it will suit you. Just remember though that to go back to blonde isn't that easy you will either have to put up with bad roots until the colour fades out which is definately not a good look or you could get your hair stripped but that is very harsh on your hair and costs quite a bit. think about it first and if your still insistent that you want to go dark then do. But remember blondes have way more fun!

I have blond hair and about every other year I get bored and go darker, I have been black, black current and red. I like the change but everyone around me always say's how much more they prefer me blond. Last time i decided to go with a dark chestnut underneath with it 'woven' in on top keeping the blond too, this was by far the most successful of changes but was done professionally.

I would always get a professional to do it now and whatever you do when you want to go back to blond don't do it yourself, it will go horribly wrong. I tried to do this twice you would have thought I would have learnt the 1st time that it was not a good idea.

Go to a good salon (be prepared to pay for quality!) and they may give you some lowlights which will take you a lot darker but not the whole black goth type thin. Coz if you do it yourself it will always turn out darker than it says on the box, plus hairdressers can use different tones and colours to make it look natural, and they can tell from our skin tone etc what will suit you. I recently went dark and I really love it, so go for it if you fancy it. Its only hair, can always get it fixed if you dont like it. But give it a few weeks first! Also, only dye it once you have considered it for at least a month, its not a decision to be rushed!
Good luck

I am naturally blonde (not really light though) and have had really dark hair for about 3 years now and I love it. People I know can't believe I am actually blonde, it's quite funny. I dye my eyebrows too of course otherwise it would look odd.

Basically I would suggest going darker shade by shade, using semi permanent dyes, or going and getting your hairdresser to do it. Never dye it black. I use permanent dye now and am a bit trapped in the cycle of dying the roots, which is a bit annoying, luckily I like the colour.

One other thing - the roots will make you look like you are going grey if your natural hair is really light!

Just be sure to do the strand test to make sure you won't end up with some funky colour. I usually skip the strand test b/c I have dark hair and dyeing it darker doesn't usually cause a problem. I helped a blonde friend of mine dye her hair brown and we strand-tested 3 different shades - two came out orange! The third was ok. Also, don't leave the dye on too long - you may end up with your hair too dark (that did happen to her, but we used semi-permanent so it lightened up to a lovely brown within a few weeks). Good luck!

Oh my gosh! My best friend dyed hers dark just a few months back and she was a blond. It looks wonderful! I believe it gives the person a more adult look. No longer in the teen aspects of life. Plus if your hair is a natural dark color it will be so much easier to maintain. Remember the rule, one to two shades darker than your eye brows.

I suggest that you try out a non-permanent colour treatment first to see if you really like it. Don't use demi or semi permanent colours either--these could ruin your hair. Instead use a one-use only colour, in the colour you think you want to be. This will give you a very good idea of how you will look with that colour, and whether you can live with it or not. Give yourself a few days to decide, and be honest with yourself.

If you like the result and want to go to that colour permanently, then you can switch to one of the other longer lasting dyes.

It's really hard to go back to your natural colour using any of the demi or semi dyes.

Don't go dark right away, do it in stages so you can decide how dark you want it.If you go right to dark hair and don't like the look on you, it is very hard to lighten it again, you just about have to wait till all grows out. Use a a light to medium brown first and see how you like that, then if want to go darker, do it with confidence that it is what you want.

Bleach is undesirable on your hair, yet you would be able to desire to continually bypass a million-2 colors darker at a time. i've got observed that my hair continually seems greater desirable after dying it, yet over the years, i've got found out that my hair has replace into thinner and a sprint greater flat. attempt to be delighted along with your modern-day hair colour, with the aid of fact it particularly does harm your hair interior the long-term no remember what.

I would go for it. I used to have blonde hair and dyed it red. A lot of people when they want to whhen they do it they like it. If you end up not liking it have 3 weeks or a month you can go to a salon and get it stripped back to the color it used to be.
