Firstly I think you need to sit down with your girlfriend and find out what her reaction to this was. It seems quite a spontaneous thing to say to one of your best friends girlfriends. Were they alone when this confession was made? Have you any reason to think your girlfriend may have given him the wrong idea. If she tells you that it was a complete surprise and she reacted the appropriate way by telling him that she is with you, then you really need to have a firm talk with your friend. It seems he has totally crossed the line. He is supposed to be your friend after all. If he has no explanation then you should consider if he really is a friend. Hear his side of the story before you cut him off, its a difficult situation and if he has betrayed you in this way, he must have very strong feeling about this.

Good luck

Depends on the context, although I'm guessing if your girlfriend's told you this she's pretty sure he meant it in a romantic way. You're going to have to confront the issue, sit him down, ask him why he said it (maybe he had just had a break up/was drunk/ messed up and regrets saying it now). If it came out accidentally (i.e. he fancies your girlfriend but never really meant to do anything about it, it was the drink), try and let it go i you trust him. If, however, he was actually trying to seduce her and it looks like he'll try again, you can tell him to get lost. Speak to your girlfriend too - she might have told you hoping you would just have a quiet word, or she might be hoping you'll dump him. But just make sure you give your friend a chance to explain his actions.

If he is your mate he shouldn't even let him self start feeling like that, you need to talk to your girlfriend make sure she hasn't been sending the wrong signals to the poor lad! i mean love is a strong emotion they mite get on really well and he is confusing love for friendship. Its a hard one i don't know how long you and your friend have been close, but maybe you should talk to him before you end up fighting. But thinking long term every time you see them chatting or joking with each other i know id be wondering whats going on in his head.

Good luck with this one mate.

Your BEST friend? Alot of factors are involved in this mess. ONE. How close are you with your girl? Is it sexual or emotional? Have you been dating a LONG time or just met and what is the history with your BF and your GF? Did they know each other BEFORE you two got together? Bottom line, you need to TALK to your BF. See why he said it, whats running throug his head. Talk to your GF and see what she thinks before you jump to conclusions. It could all be a misunderstanding, or a drunken slur or misconstrewed.

A best friend would not do that to you. Confront him and say that you know what he did. Due to his deceit you can no longer be his mate as he has betrayed you and that you are disappointed with him. Speak openly to your girlfriend and ask her how she feels about his declaration of love. Ask for honesty from her and ask her how she responded to your mate telling her that he loves her.

If you have been best mates with him for a long time. She will understand why you need to know these things and that it will be hard for you to see him go as a best friend.

Does she feel the same? You need to speak to the pair of them. I wouldn't be happy if my mate said it in a love you want to sleep with you way, but if it was meant in a i love you as a friend I think that's OK.

Get a new best friend, what a prat he must be! I'm guessing your g/f told you & that she's still with you? If that's the case I would warn him off, don't throw any punches, just tell him to stay away from you!

OK since you are asking us then basically you should just let her go be with a real man... I mean come on a real guy would have beat his @$$ already. Best friend or no there are just some lines you don't cross.

i think you should tell your friend to choose between your friendship and his feelings towards your girlfriend!! its totally out of order that he even said anything so he's not really a friend at all, cos you wouldn't say it and not expect anything in return! so he obviously was willing to chuck away your friendship to be with her!! i personally wouldn't let your girl friend talk to him any more as that will just make his feelings stronger and that can only end badly!!

Isn't nice that your girlfriend has a lot of people that love her?

Just tell your best friend that he don't do things that you don't approve. And if he has any doubt, tell him to ask you for consultation and consent.

Plus also tell him that any action has a reaction.
