Not too long ago, I was flipping through channels on my TV. I came across an infomercial on one of the religious channels which stated that Christians would be fulfilling Biblical prophecy if they paid for a Russian or Ethiopian Jew to immigrate to Israel. Don't get me wrong. I know that the Russian and Ethiopian Jews have it rough, so I don't blame them for wanting to go to Israel. However, the Christians weren't being encouraged to help them for altruistic reasons. I remember a Christian woman on the infomercial saying something like, "The Bible says that anyone who helps Israel will be blessed, and I want to be blessed." And remember, they want to help fulfill Biblical prophecy! Whatever happened to helping people just for the sake of helping them? And why do I doubt that the same people who would donate money to this program would be likely to join a group like, say, Amnesty International?

One possible answer is the reality that different people are at different levels of growth. Some people simply need to know a problem exist; and others need alittle bit of prodding/coaching.

Hi Tangerine, I think this person is wrong here, look I would do nothing to hurt jews but why would I as a Christian accept this blessing rubbish, when the jews rejected and still reject Christ, how can this bring a blessing from God?to help them build a temple that is against Christian belief,Jesus said see this temple, knock it down and in three day`s I will rebuild it, He is the Temple of the New Testament.

My Christian friends are over in Africa right now feeding hungry and providing medical care. I wouldn't judge Christians harshly because they also support people trying to move, no matter what the reason. Amnesty international is a good cause but most Christian service organizations have the same values with the added goal of spreading the good news of Jesus Christ.

I have my doubts about Amnesty International.

The Infomercial is right. It is Prophesied in Isaiah that Gentiles would bring the Children back to Israel on their backs. It is also written that God will bless those who bless Israel, and curse those who curse Israel.

I do not like it. But I do not know the whole prophesy thing like many people do. All things are for a reason so it is possible they are led to ask for money for a true reason.
