Petition the court that has jurisdiction over the area the children are living and ask for a "custody conference". If in fact you gave "legal" custody to others, then you should be familiar with the process. If you didn't give up custody by way of a court proceeding, then you, as a biological parent, should have no problem regaining custody, providing you can show that you can care for them properly. Contact the Children and Youth Service in your area if you need assistance. A review of the case can be held. By being honest and explaining the changes that have occured in your life, and asserting your sincerity about wanting your children back, should have a positive influence on all concerned. BEST OF LUCK IN YOUR EFFORTS.

You need to hire a lawyer. You should have done this right after they would not let you have your children back.
