I'm not printing the photo. I want to change to file to black and white.

Open the picture.
Select file
Select "Save As"

Click on the "save as type" selector.

The first option listed is monochrome bitmap.

Choose that and save your file (probably with a new name).
That's your black & white!

If you want it in other than a .BMP format file, you can save it as another type from within paint (like a .JPG) or anything else.
The color's all gone now and they'll be black on white also.

Change your printer settings to only print in black and white.
