a good pet store will sell groats as will some healthfood shops. However if you cant get any dont worry a cokatiel mixture will suffice with milletsprays and uncontaminated green food and pieces of fruit. this diet will see it live healthily. experiment with the fruit & veg as there may be some reluctance at first persevere.

Hi you don't say if you are in the UK or Usa...but most good pet stores stock groats for birds or you could try a agricultural seed merchant as they do animal feeds inc bird seed......Regards Jake

It is already in his seed mix. If you are buying a good cockatiel seed mix, that seed will be in there. It is a long light tan seed. I personally would worry about buying to much of that seed. It isn't a cockatiel favorite. It is a budgie favorite. Safflower and sunflower seeds and millet are their super flavorties. But feeding just those are going to make your bird very unhealthy. Best to feed a combination of a pre-packaged cockatiel seed mix and cockatiel sized pellets (like zupreem fruit flavored ones.) For your cockatiel to eat healthy.

we get ours at our local health/whole foods store. you can usually buy them in bulk and they are pretty inexpensive. my husband and i make different mixes of seeds, fruits, and nuts for our birds. it's cheaper than petstore, usually fresher, and you can make it exclusive to your bird.
