Peter says that the prophets were "carried along" by God the Holy Spirit when they were inspired to write. The same Greek word that we translate as "carried along" is normally used to describe a boat driven by a strong current. The passengers in the boat have limited freedom to move the boat from side to side, but the boat is being driven inevitably to its destination.

This exact same question keeps coming up on the R&S section all the time. Try using the search function next time.

...Second Peter 1:21 tells us that "prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." The word moved in this verse literally means to be "borne along" or "carried along."

Even though human beings were used in the process of writing down God's Word, they were all literally "borne along" by the Holy Spirit.

The human wills of the authors were not the originators or the carriers of God's message....God did not permit the will of sinful man to divert, misdirect, or erroneously record His message.

God moved and the prophet mouthed these truths; God revealed and man recorded His word.

Interestingly, the Greek word for "moved" in 2 Peter 1:21 is the same word found in Acts 27:15-17.

The experienced sailors could not navigate the ship because the wind was so strong.

The ship was being driven, directed, and carried about by the wind.

This is similar to the Spirit's driving, directing, and carrying the human authors of the Bible as He wished.

The word is a strong one, indicating the Spirit's complete superintendence of the human authors.

Yet, just as the sailors were active on the ship (though the wind, not the sailors, controlled the ship's movement), so the human authors were active in writing as the Spirit directed....

I think, according to the bible, God personally wrote the ten commandments. There are also some accounts of God writing words on a wall to predict the fall of a kingdom. The rest of the bible is believed to be written by individuals inspired by the spirit of God.

It does not, the bible isn't proper, regardless of in case you in basic terms evaluate what proportion cases that's been replaced and translated down in the process the a while. - the writers had stable intentions and that i've got self belief have been inspired via God (assuming there is one) to place in writing the flaws in them, yet they are human and imperfect, so it must be desirous approximately a grain of salt and studied appreciably (inclusive of the subculture of the day) to understand the genuine which potential in the back of it. It irritates me whilst human beings think of that God controls what human beings write interior the scriptures, I mean do they even have self belief that if between the Prophets of previous miswrote something that God magically replaced the words? I mean come on, provide me a smash, it is in basic terms lack of understanding on their area. are not getting me incorrect, the scriptures are a great place to look for education yet you nonetheless would desire to think approximately the history of the Bible itself and how many times that's been replaced for the interior maximum income or the "interpretation" of the only writing it. that's variety of like the youngsters pastime telephone, via the time the message reached the final individual, it has replaced thoroughly- yet is it the fault of the guy who began that it have been given replaced? No that's each and all the in-between human beings. comparable variety of thought.

From our knowledge of the Bible, the chronological event surrounding it holiness and from what churches preaches there is no objection to the fact that this bible we see bible is the hand writting of man. There is no doubt, however that jesus is the Prophet of God and was send by Him (the All-mighty ) to delivered His messenge to the children of Isreal and everybody testify to that, yes. and there is an evidence to prove that he (jesus) was givev book to deliver to the israelist and of which he successfully delivered. Like i said, the bible whe see today is the work of man. Why ? Yes. If you take two or three bible of defferent version one will see a number of discrepancies Why? it is because there is alot of change resulting from man temparing. Whe shall know that the words of god shall be protected by God from man's temparing. The changes therein are so much to make the bible out of it original sense ( sorry for the use of the word). We have the task of bringing the authentic. the real original version I can bet you that, you will believe me then that yes we are long been fool around.
Know back to the question: "man said he wrote it. How could you belive man over God?" God is write that he send a prophet with a book. But we said man changes the text or the message to suit his purpose. If you can be favoure to see the subsequent version closed to the original I ca bet you will know the reality. Iam a Muslim By faith and I have nothing agaist the christian, beside my mother is a convert and even today her relations are christian by faith. No, He didn't usually write anything physically, but He told man what to write. God did write the ten commandments, and physically, too! He wrote them on stone tablets. Moses broke the first set, so God made another. And God also wrote on a wall with his finger. Who says we're believing man?

The Holy Bible is the Word of God because everything written in it was written by humans BUT it was all inspired by God through the Holy Spirit.

God wrote the commandments with his own finger. Then dumb Moses had a fit and broke them.
All the writers were "Impressed " by God to write what he wanted them to.Sometimes they had no idea what it meant but they wrote it anyway .See I Peter.
